Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Alright, I've notice that my shifter doesn't spring back to center when in neutral. When I push the lever to the left in neutral and let go, it will spring back to center. However, when I hold the lever to the right in neutral and let go, it will kind of stick and I will have to help it back to center position. I've checked the cable adjustment and they're fine. When I unlock the left cable that takes care of horizontal positioning, I notice that when I physically push the cable inwards, it'll pop back out, but when I pull the cable outwards, it will slowly move inwards. Do these cables lose their tension over time or is this a characteristic of the oem cables?

POST 2Original post

Look under the car, the cable clip has slipped at the trans. There are tons of posts and pics if u search google. Several of fixes out there but usually a zip tie does the trick.

Nope, the cable has already been zip tied. Shifter left-->centerl is "springier" than right-->center. Not sure if this is how it is oem, or shifter cable losing its tension or something else.

POST 4Original post

Also look under the center console. They can come out on that end too.

POST 5Original post

I had a similar issue. Turns out a bunch of quarters found their way under the black plastic piece that connects the right shift cable to the shifter housing. They broke a tab that caused the right shift cable to come loose and caused some binding. I had to get new shifter cables to fix it.
