Suggestion

There are 4 holes at the bottom of the door, 2 height adjustment screws (one is one of the 2 holes at the front of the door and the other is the one of 2 at the rear of the door), I thought maybe one of them adjust the front height and the other adjust the rear height, but seems like actually they both effect the height of the front and rear of the window?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

a while back i posted something here asking about a cure for a whistling window above 40 mph and i got a new door seal which never cured it. Richard H who has been great since i got the car, told me about the window adjusting screws at the base of the door. I have found that my drivers window is indeed in need of being closer to the frame when the door is closed as it is someway off from the passenger side in comparison. So today i have a look under the door and find four holes! i know that the window position can be infinitely adjusting so i didnt bother trying incase i leave the whole thing worse then it is now! does anyone know which of the four holes will allow me to increase the tightness of the glass against the door rubber when closed? there are two holes at the rear underside of the door (right below the handle but underneath) and two at the front (below the wing mirror but underneath). thanks to anyone who may know peter

POST 2Original post

You can see the window regulator mountings and one of the two covers of this photo taken from the inside of the door. One is just a blanking plug to get at the height adjustment, so it would be obvious which is which when you remove them.

POST 3Original post

I'm trying to adjust window height (997.2) to get rid of wind noise (rear portion of driver window not high enough to meet rubber seal), got couple of questions: 1. There are 4 holes at the bottom of the door, 2 height adjustment screws (one is one of the 2 holes at the front of the door and the other is the one of 2 at the rear of the door), I thought maybe one of them adjust the front height and the other adjust the rear height, but seems like actually they both effect the height of the front and rear of the window? what are the differences in them? 2. anti-clock wise is supposed to raise the windows and clockwise suppose to lower. If I turn it 6-12 turns or so it will raise the window a bit (maybe 3mm or so) but looks like if i turn further it has no effect or maybe even lower the window a bit, is that expected? Also is it possible for the screw to come out if I keep turning anti-clockwise or there is an anchor to prevent that? I was worrying to put in too many turns to experiment, afraid that the screw might come out and hard to put back in.
