Hi,
Done anyone has the PASM sports suspension (-20mm) on their car or tried a car with this option? Was hoping to hear some feedback about it as compared to PASM.
Is this option too "hard" road driving? I do not intend to track the car.
Thanks!
I drove a coupe demo w/ the sport PASM and I think it's a perfect setup. The 20mm lowering gives a perfect look to the car w/o being so low that every curb is a scrape. Most aftermarket lowering is in the 25-35mm range so the sport PASM is still conservative. If it were available for the Cab I would not have hesitated. Only caveat is the quality of your local roads. The worse the condition of your roads the more unpleasant the effect of lowering a car. The extra 10mm drop of the sport PASM over standard PASM will amplify the effect of potholes. I would try to arrange a test drive at your local dealer if possible.
Other than the ride-height, do you know if there are any other differences? Does the mapping on the PASM shocks change or are the maps the same as regular 'ol PASM?

Yes, the whole system is re-configured for the ride height w/ different more aggressive mapping w/ SC/SC+. I think this may be why the SPASM isn't offered for the Cabs. Isn't LSD also included w/ the SPASM? Owners on other sites have reported that w/ SPASM the C2S is close to the GT3 in handling/balance. I suspect that w/ X51, SPASM, and PDK a C2S will be very close to the GT3's level of performance. Unfortunately the X51 is not exactly a bargain item.
I just bought a 2009 C4s w/ PASM sports suspension and love it! I drove a C2s extensively w/out the sports suspension to compare the two. I found very little difference in the ride quality in any PASM setting. I drove over broken pavement, interstates, bridges etc. I suppose if you were driving in an area w/ a lot of potholes you may notice a slight difference but I did not.
I do a lot of aggressive driving so the increased performance and slightly more aggressive look in the back really appealed to me. If you do more performance oriented driving like mountain roads and the occasional track you won't go wrong w/ getting it. Hope that helps.
I have a 2009 997S with the PASM sport suspension option and the ride is really quite tolerable in the normal mode. (Better than my 2007 Cayman S with regular suspension)
The only drawback is ride height. It looks really good but is a PITA over speed bumps or getting out of driveways. I have to take a detour in my neighborhood to avoid the speed bumps or else I get to hear that wonderful "grunch" no matter how slow I crawl over them and there is a local gas station that I can not use as it really hits hard exiting their driveways.
