I checked the coolant this morning, it was a little low so I bought coolant from WL OPC...added it in, but it still seems to reach 95c.....

I noticed when my car has been running for 10mins or so, the temperature now seems to go to 95-100, where I am sure it used to always be just above 80 (lets say 82C)...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey Guys, I noticed when my car has been running for 10mins or so, the temperature now seems to go to 95-100, where I am sure it used to always be just above 80 (lets say 82C)... I checked the coolant this morning, it was a little low so I bought coolant from WL OPC...added it in, but it still seems to reach 95c..... I checked the front bumper areas for leaves etc, but they were clean. The fans for the radiators switch too. I tried to listen if the fan switches on....I couldn't hear it...so I lifted the engine lid and it wasn't moving.. if the fan is on and you open the engine lid, does the fan continue to spin? or can you hear the fan when it is running? bit baffled at the mo - maybe I added too much water? I did a 50% 50% mix to top up the coolant. Any suggestions appreciated, just don't want to drive her until I have put my mind at rest! thanks in advance. Adit.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thats the first thing I did....checked it after a ten minute drive and was fine.

POST 4Original post

depending on the oil used can cause about a 5 degree difference worth getting a diagnostic check on the system ?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks Sundeep, thats what I'll try and do...get it booked in at an inde this week.

POST 6Original post

I had a slight increase in temp during stationary traffic. Zentrum in Nottingham said it was one of the 'Resistors' driving one of the fans, hence only one running. When theyre on you should hear them... Changed and was fine (BTW OPC couldn't find the problem) Also if you put heater on full does it drop ? maybe problem with heater circuit ?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

both fans do definetly turn on, so I don't think thats the issue. I took it to a Porsche specalist yesterday, and they have diagnosed it as a small crack in the header tank....I get the car back tomorrow....so hopefully it will be resolved. thanks all for your suggestions....will let you know if its fixed. Adit.
