This is not a probability of success.

Recently I ran my fuel tank right to the bottom (due to poor planning) and when I filled it up at the petrol station, the needle and "miles left in tank" reading did not reset and stayed at zero.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently I ran my fuel tank right to the bottom (due to poor planning) and when I filled it up at the petrol station, the needle and "miles left in tank" reading did not reset and stayed at zero. I spoke to OPC Chiswick (near my office) and they had never heard of the problem. I then called OPC Hatfield (nearer my house) in order to book it in to have this checked. They advised me to fill up right to the very top of the tank - I'm pleased to say that this cleared the problem. Apparantley this is a well documented problem with the 996 and the fuel tank float design. Has anyone had this problem in the past? (At least I now know how to cure it should it happen again)

POST 2Original post

We did that gag last week: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=217331 [ ][ ][ ] Could be the splash-and-dash "problem", or there was an issue with the fuel tank hose - but it should have been sorted out by your MY. edit: If you would like details of the fuel hose modication TSB, drop me an email.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, have read the posts from that link and at least i'm not alone! Phew! That would be great if you email that hose mod: [email removed] Many thanks James
