I do notyet know much about the 2010 GT3 but here it is in the flesh in the Asheville Porsche (Deal Porsche) garage bay:
Looks pretty similar to past models, but then I am not the GT3 expert. The tail wing has "3.8" embossed on the sides of the wing rather than the former punched "GT3" design.
It had an all black (leather and alcantara mix).
$119k.
Maybe one day.:hilarious:
We're not getting them downunder until December but put my deposit down on Friday afternoon.
Spent last Tuesday at Queensland Raceway on their clubman track with 997.1 GT3's and had an absolute blast.
I must admit I am a fan of white although the new Aqua Blue looks great too.
Don't underestimate this generation - here's a quick rundown.
The bodywork differences may be subtle but they all add up to make for incredibly performance differences, namely 110kg of downforce at 300km/h (242 lbs at 186mph), meaning the car is incredibly more stable than its predecessors. 70kg (154 lbs) of that comes from the wing alone. You can do lane changes at 150mph+ without fear of flying off into a wall because of upforce.
This GT3 will do 0-60 in 4.1, though that's a conservative number, and has a top speed of 194 mph. The engine is still derived from the motor sport oriented GT engine instead of the new round of DFI motors in the current 911 lineup. The engine has been reworked to raise the displacement from 3.6 to 3.8 liters, but even with the bump to 435hp, it's lighter than before due to better engineering and new materials.
It's still raw and sport oriented but more livable than the past GT3 iterations, especially with the dynamic engine mount and front air lift options.
I think one of the coolest little changes are the wheels. The race derived centerlocks are pretty awesome.
Maybe that wasn't so quick.. haha, sorry. I've been thinking of getting one so it seems like all I've done of late is think about this car.
there's one here at the Watkins Glen DE... it's SWEET!
Damn, those photos are making me drool....
My evil salesman emailed me on Thursday the option list of a GT3 they just got in stock. Thanks to the economy, there isn't really a waiting list anymore no like in 2007 with the last generation...
Saw a red one at Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte.
It was already sold so here is to the new owner
I was amazed at how low it sits and loved the wheels.
I saw one at the local dealer today, and while I love my CS, I can't help being attracted to that GT3.
.
Yes, we shall begin to see more of those center-hub style wheels roll out from Porsche. I've always liked them as a true race design....
