This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hello, how does the steering compare on a cup car with the electric pump as compared to the standard hydraulic pump on the streetcar? Specifically, is the steering lighter, and if so how much. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

The electric power steering is actually heavier at very low speeds than the Porsche's OEM hydraulic system. Once moving, it probably remains a little heavier. I just dont notice it. The electric power steering pump goes in the front boot area and also reduces the Porsche's normal storage area. As I understand, it is possible to have both systems in a car. We didn't do that, but I have met someone at a race track who said he did this. Unfortunately, I never had time to check it out. BTW, a Cup car has a much larger turning radius than a normal street Porsche. This has nothing to do with the power steering. But it would be almost impossible to maneuver a Cup car in a very very tight, confined parking situation.

POST 3Original post

Thank you for your response. I'm interested in putting a Porsche electric power steering pump into a 2009 PDK Caymen in order to make the steering lighter. Someone who does Porsche modifications told me that his customers have said that it made the steering easier. He also said that the electric pump helped more at low speeds because it was constant, not dependent upon the engine's output. I imagine that these were drivers who wanted to use their cars on both track and street, not dedicated racecars - perhaps that explains the difference between your experience and his customers'. I would appreciate any additional information you can provide about installing both the electric and hydraulic pumps. I haven't heard anything about that setup. Thanks for your assistance.

POST 4Original post

Woudnt it hurt to have larger turning radius? Wouldnt that hurt handling?
