Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When my 996C4s went for minor service at OPC, I am advised to have my brake discs drilled. What does this do? is it something routine and expected? Other advise I was give was to flush the coolant system (£200-300). Coolant level was low few weeks ago so I added distilled water with some fresh coolant. Following this coolant concentration was lower than expected, hence the advise. Will this give a problem? Any insight and explanation appreciated. When I took my car for service, they gave me a Cayenne. Never drove 4by4 before and did not like it at all. Service itself was excellent(OPC Chester)

POST 2Original post

One would assume it is to clear out the holes in your brake discs of clogged up brake pads dust, which will effect the high temperatire braking efficency. Either blast them with an high pressure air line (and dont inhale) or carefully use a drill bit (without the drill)

POST 3Original post

You can do it yourself, it's a little labour intensive. You just take a drill bit (or something a similar size and shape) and push the brake dust/debris/rust out of the disc. Basically a disc cracks and corrodes when the holes get blocked so it's something that must be done regularly.
