Hello everyone, I was wondering about the 996 C2S air intake. What are the best aftermarket options, which is the best and why, are these just a filter replacement like the 987 or are they complete systems?! Any advice and/or recommended reads are highly appreciated!

Nitro there are many options to replace the OEM airbox for more power. An initial modification would be to replace the paper element with a performance BMC filter (retain stock airbox). This is a simple substitution that requires twenty minutes of your time, but will not dramatically improve power. One step further would be to install the Fabspeed Cold Air kit which includes a silicone hose and airbox cap which replaces the OEM plastic re-circulation tube. The Cold Air Kit with BMC filter will improve about 9HP. For even more power and sound, remove the complete OEM airbox assembly and install the Competition Carbon Fiber Intake which includes a conical performance filter. This setup is a direct replacement and includes a carbon fiber heatshield, carbon fiber intake pipe, conical filter, and will not set the CEL. You can install this system within an hour, and power will increase around 12-15HP. FabspeedMsp's Channel - YouTube

I have a Fabspeed Cold Air kit with the BMC filter on my 2007 Carrera S and I love it. Gives you that more roaring sound when your 3000 rpm or higher and you really feel the power.

Joey, out of curiosity why did you not mention the Fabspeed 996 GT3 Maxflo Competition Intake? I am assuming that this will fit on all 996's and I was curious as to what the differences are between it and the regular 996 Maxflo Competition Intake. Is the difference just more airflow due to having a second input/filter?

Thank you for the compliments! The Cold Air Kit was used by BGB Motorsports in the Grand-Am series a few years back when they ran the Gen. 1 Carrera S. SoonerCarrera the Dual-conical Competition Intake only fits the GT3 model. The throttle body location is different from the Carrera to the GT3 which is why only the single filter will work on the Carrera model. The Carrera (996/997) has a 3.5" single conical filter opening, whilst the GT3 (996/997) has a 3.0" dual conical filter opening.
