Suggestion

I think your problem sounds more electronic, the default setting on the PSE I.e with no vacuum is for the flaps to be open so with no vacuum if you disconnect the changeover valve , this is why it's always open or loud, don't leave it disconnected as that side of the vacuum circuit also feeds the resonator flap on the inlet manifold which helps with low end throttle response , that is what #1 actuator is , it's nothing to do with the exhaust , if the switch has been flickering could it simply be a faulty switch, I'd start there first!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sometimes, the PSE ON/OFF button's light is flicking when engine starts or push the button. Sometimes, PSE mode is ON (loud) even the button light is ON. Sometimes, PSE works well with the button ON/OFF. Sometimes, PSE mode is always OFF (quiet) with light ON and the button doesn't respond at all. If the change-over valve #2 on the diagram is disconnected the PSE mode is always ON (loud) as expected. The diode cut modified and I replaced the change-over valve #2. Do I need to change the change-over valve #1 or relay? Hopefully someone can help me. 996 vacuum line
