Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What is the OE Audio and satnav fitted to a 2002 C4s.

POST 2Original post

PCM1 Hi I've just bought a c4s and its got the pcm1 with a 6 disc autochanger.

POST 3Original post

And from 2003, this option became PCM 2 but had a standard upgraded Porsche sound system. ~ Maxie

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Are PCM1 and PCM2 interchangeable without any fettling of any sort ?

POST 6Original post

Its all about the MOST BUS fiberoptic thingumydoodah which was introduced on some late 52 reg cars if memory serves. In a nutshell, the good news is a pre-MOST car is much easier to upgrade audiowise. C4Ss came as standard with the uprated Porsche sound system and a CDR 22 head unit (pre most) or CDR23 after that, many also had Bose specified.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car I am collecting is an O2 C4s, OK therefore PCM1 it is then. Thankyou. The unit has been removed from the car (??) and I will need to source a unit to replace it. Looking at some images of PCM1, does the unit run in conjunction with a CD auto changer.

POST 8Original post

There will be a huge hole in the centre dash  Personally, I'd not bother shelling out to replace PCM 1- it has a tape player, and you can no longer buy update nav discs. I'd look into having another upgraded stereo put in- you could move the climate control panel up and put a normal DIN stereo in instead with nav etc, e.g. Becker Cascade.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have seen pics of the Cascade unit. It does what it says on the tin. But I don't know if it works ok with an auto changer. I can utilise the hole for some CD storage unless theres a another must have accessory ?

POST 10Original post

Hi, I would go for a Pioneer Avic bit of kit (2 Din) there are several variants but there is one that you can get the illumination exactly the same as the rest of the dash so it really does look stock. Superior in terms of ipod and BT. Good DVD playback and the option of reverse camera capability. Alan

POST 12Original post

Just been looking at the Pioneer AVIC-HD1BT and it does look extremely good. Infinitely better than PCM2 Does anyone have a picture of this unit installed in their 996? Presumably you need to move the aircon down to where the cuby-hole is behind the gearknob. Also, does it cover the screen when the car is parked? Just worried about having a nice bit of £1000 hi-fi on display for little pikies to see.

POST 13Original post

Hi GD Yep one of the chaps on PCGB forum has the hard drive version installed looks the business. Best bet is to check out Renntech as there are several installs on there that are very impressive. Regards Alan

POST 14Original post

Hi I had a Kenwood DNX7200 double din unit fitted to my C4S. An excellent piece of kit. Cost around £760 with the video ipod lead connector and I had it fitted for around £160. All in all an excellentpurchase. I chose it over the Pioneer on the basis that it was cheaper, a single box unit to fit and it looked - in my opinion - a little better. Tried to attach pics but they are too big?
