Can it be accessed from under the bumper, it looks like from the pics you can, just may have to use a long hook or open up the holes under the bumper to fit your arm up in there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just bought my first 911, an 04 carrera. Cant get the damn drunk open. Reading through the threads it seems the trunk accuator may be bad. The car battery is healthy, starts and runs great. When I press the trunk release I hear a faint sound from the latch but nothing. Ive read that the cable can be located removing the Passenger wheel well liner, but no one on the internet had posted a picture of this elusive cable. Ive removed the liner but cannot for the life of me see a cable. Ive looked for a Possible relocation position, but not discovered so far. Any suggestions?

POST 2Original post

When I had my bumper off to clean the radiators, I relocated the cable to sit behind the tow hook cover which I heard was common. The cable went up somewhere behind the headlamp originally but I never really looked closely. This is what it looks like (lower right).

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks that helps at least know what it looks like. There a so many threads on this issue but no good pics on where it actually is. I tried locating from under the bumper in the location of your pic but I cant see it, might be too far back

POST 4Original post

It is located in the inner side of the passenger headlight. You would need to take your wheel off and the inner well liner.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I removed the liner and accessed the area. I see a small round hole near the inside front of the headlight but no cable to be found. I've looked for a spot where it may have been relocated, but nothing so far. Can it be accessed from under the bumper, it looks like from the pics you can, just may have to use a long hook or open up the holes under the bumper to fit your arm up in there.

POST 6Original post

Pop the tow hook front bumper plug and see if it is there. I have relocated mine to that spot...frunk not working, pop the tow hook plug and there is the cable.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got it, loosened the bumper and was able to reach up and grab it. Looks like someone screwed with it before a pulled it out of the fender well. Relocated it by the tow hook. Thanks

POST 8Original post

Hi Frankobra , Last time i had issue with empty battery and closed frunk, was fighting around wheel well and all possible holes like cat with closed food can, trying to find a cable .... Much easier option is to go to back side of the car , than gently lift driver side back light and on the bottom of light well you will see cable for emergency opening engine bay .. Than by using good battery on side , connect + and - to appropriate places , you will be able to open frunk / start the car .. Sometimes , emergency cable for engine bay is located under upper bumper line , rear bumper driver side , potentially easier to reach than front cable .. Regards, Zoran
