I melted the sensors at Bedford a few weeks back. Loads of life left in the pads and am not going to pay just to have the sensors refitted.I have got used to driving about with the warning light on. The next time I change the pads I will change the discs also. So if I do get metal to metal I am not going to fret about the discs. (I will have changed them before then anyway I expect) The car was recently checked over by OPC and they seem to have reset the pad wear sensors. However sometimes the warning light comes on and other times it doesn't. Admittedly if the car is driven harder the warning light will come on but then the next time I drive it the light will be off. Does this make sense to anyone?

Yes, understand you If you've got plenty of pad life left remove the sensor from the pad and cut the wire off except for an inch or so, solder these ends together and replace. Just remember to keep an eye on your pads though!

Buy a new set of sensors and put them in if you have any concerns about it Dave. It will be quicker than a cut and solder and not much cash for them.

The sensors should cost £9.74 (plus the dreaded VAT) each corner - just had one of mine done. The light kept coming on if I went over a really bumpy road - very annoying.
