Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Well, I decided to take the 996 to the same scale today but before I did, I filled the gas tank to capacity (16.9 gallons in the C2, or about 105 pounds).

Suggestion
the Grand Am car ended up at 2700 lbs with 200 lbs included of balast to meet requirments, I thought TRG would replace the fly by wire but no, they are racing stock 3.6 carrera engines ( well with some little tweeks ) in that series.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Over on the Rennlist 996 forum someone posted a question about the weight difference between C2's and C4's. Good discussion. However, all this talk about weight got me to thinking. How much
does
my 2000 996 C2 coupe weigh, anyway? Well, I decided to find out. A bit over a year ago, I'd had my '84 Carrera corner balanced and aligned on Hergesheimer's very accurate drive-on laser alignment rack and corner balance scale. That car ended up weighing 2,570 pounds empty (almost empty gas tank). A few weeks later a bunch of us Porsche fanatics decided to stop by a company that has a certified scale in order to weigh our cars and have a "weigh-off". It turned out my car weighed 2,660 pounds with 3/4 of a tank of gas (which weighs about 90 pounds), so it turned out that their scales gave basically the exact same number as Hergesheimer's scale. Great.
Well, I decided to take the 996 to the same scale today but before I did, I filled the gas tank to capacity (16.9 gallons in the C2, or about 105 pounds). The car weighed 3,140 pounds, so it weighs about 3,035 pounds with an empty gas tank.
Now I know.
I was at Racers Group in January they took delivery of 4 997s 3.6s for Grand Am conversion, after they stripped them completly down to the tub The head mechanic said it only weighed 650lbs it is hard too believe the car goes up 4 times in weight upon completion.
Mine is lightly optioned, btw. It has the standard seats (non electric except for seatback angle), full supple leather, three spoke steering wheel with a colored crest, and chrome exhaust tips. That's it. Standard 17 inch wheels too (I really want some nice 18's) and no PSM (which was an option on the 2000 C2 but standard on the C4 that year).

From the C2 to the C4 there is a differece of 121 pounds
From the C2 to the C4S there is a differnce of 385 pounds
I haven't put mine under the scale but I would be safe and under given the ROW GT3 seats. That is going to be the biggest weight reduction swap.
2000 Carrera/Carrera 4 owner's manual stated weights:
2909 to 3042 lbs for manually-shifted Carrera coupes
3009 to 3141 lbs for those with automatic Tiptronic transmissions
3031 to 3152 lbs for manually-shifted Carrera 4 coupes
3130 to 3251 lbs for those with Tiptronics
