Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you're heading for Brussels/Cologne, why don't you stop by Gert's at Carnewal or something and get them changed there?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

can anyone give me any idea how much life is left in my brake pads after the warning light comes on? Can't get it booked in anywhere for ages and I was planning some big mileages in the next two weeks (Isle of Man, Brussels, and Cologne!) Is it like 100's or 1,000's of miles - it says in the handbook to go IMMEDIATELY to the dealer... Fat chance!

POST 2Original post

They should be fine for a while under normal braking, unless you head for Bedford this weekend and start braking hard into the chicane down the back straight... You can make a visual check of them - there should still be a few mms left. If you're heading for Brussels/Cologne, why don't you stop by Gert's at Carnewal or something and get them changed there? He'll probably tempt you with lots of other goodies in his store

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's not such a bad idea actually - the drive through Belgium will bed them in nicely for the Autobahn

POST 4Original post

Get the pads then get any local respected mechanic to change them - its so easy I can do it. 15 minutes per side. Including taking off the wheel and putting it back on.

POST 5Original post

Just a tip - if you jack up the rear of the car with a trolley jack - the front gets lifted too - no need to separately jack the front.

POST 6Original post

Do as Stevo says and get them swapped. As you are down to the sensors you will need those as well. As for how long it lasts well I got over 3000 miles out of mine from when teh sensor first came on. I knew I was going to change the discs and pads so I thought I would see how the pads would last. They even had life when they took them off. Mechanic said that with non riveted pads it appears that the thinner they get the wear slows a bit as they cool faster.

POST 7Original post

well if that is a stupied question I am with you watty, so we have brake sensors on the cars, I was not aware of this. Sorry if I hit jack this I have noticed a slight juddering wobble with the steering at around 70 when breaking. If I am corrcet this means I need to get the wheel aligned? Thanks once again
