Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I have a 2002 996 Carrera. The engine-lid switch is not working. The emergency release cable has come lose. I used it a few times to open the lid, went to try it again and it did not open the lid, just kept coming out about a foot more than usually. The alarm box was replaced (got wet) just prior to me purchasing the car. I tried a new switch, no luck. Any suggestion on how to open the lid? Access the latch? Jump the switch? anything that will open the lid? Does anyone know if the rear switch is programmed or tied to the alarm box? I suspect the Alarm box may have issues? will not go into why. Thanks!
