Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey all, I'm looking at a Cayman in pretty good condition, but with a saggy headliner. Sensitive content, not recommended for those under 18 Show Content Has anyone had a shop replace one of these? How much could it cost me? Is the replacement an OEM piece or is just an upholster trying to match the original fabric as much as possible? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

5 years ago in Pittsburgh, I paid $400 for a shop to replace the headliner. Inflation and location will impact your cost today.

POST 4Original post

I ordered some Honey Suede material online and did it myself. It came out great! If you're handy with DIY stuff it is tedious but not too hard. Spent less than $100 for the material (7 or 8 years ago).

POST 5Original post

I would get multiple estimates, I replaced mine (2008 CS) about a year ago and the high estimate was ~75% more than the other two. for mine they could get either OEM fabric (which I used) or other materials if you want to change the look.

POST 6Original post

Hah! Yep just did mine myself. The best thing of it was I found the annoying buzz that has been bugging me for years. I am now going to rip out the rear trim because i have a similar annoying buzz back there. The issue was a steel piece that supports the a pillar trim, it is riveted on with aluminum pop rivets and they had worked loose enough to allow the buzz to happen… heres a video

POST 8Original post

hundreds, I got mine replaced near San Jose, Ca last summer, see the thread here https://www.planet-9.com/conversations/2008-porsche-cayman-headliner.433606/#convMessage-447921

POST 9Original post

You should try doing it yourself if you have the patience. The hard part is getting it out so you can work on it. You can reuse the same headliner, assuming the sponge backing hasn’t dried out and fallenoff. They make specific headliner glue. Try this video. Google Search

POST 10Original post

I had mine replaced here in SoCal about 2 years ago. I, also, have Sand Beige. I chose an Alcantara that is a very close match and I paid around $700.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
