Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi .... First time posting here and was wondering if anyone has come across this problem before ... This morning I came out to my 996 and I noticed that both windows were down exactly halfway .... The doors were still locked and the alarm set .... I pressed the button on the key fob to unlock the doors ....put the windows back up and then locked the doors again. Really odd !!! Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this before and maybe has an explanation. A bit disconcerting especially if parked up somewhere and this happens ...not only the theft aspect but rain etc etc ... Cheers Paul

think my "bruv" Dave has had this happen on his 996 TT

POST 3Original post

Paul, welcome to the forum. As Rodders stated I had the same problem with my 996tt. Additionally the windows would just wind all the way down while driving along. This could happen once a day or a hundred times a day. The fault was diagnosed as a faulty door locking sensor, This sensor also controls the automatic opening and closing of the windows when the key fob is held in. After some wrangle the problem was fixed under the OPC warranty. If you do not have a warranty then you will be looking at a bill of around £400. Hope this helps
