equipped cars, not only is the throttle mapping sharper/more aggressive, it changes shift points and for sport plus, the shift speed as well, even locking out 7th gear, because race track.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hey people. I have looked through my owners manual and could not find much info on the console sport button except that it lowers the car by .4". Obviously, the throttle response is much improved but I was wondering if the fuel mapping is different or is this a change in the "throttle by wire". Anything else that sport mode changes? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

The sport button does not lower the car. Cars equipped with the sport option are lower than those that are not. There is no dynamic ride height on a 987. The sport button changes the throttle response. If in non sport mode for example, depressing the accelerator 1/2" results in 50% throttle, in sport mode depressing the accelerator the same 1/2" results in 75% throttle. (all numbers are not actual, but you should get the idea.) If you have PASM , hitting the sport button also moves the shocks into sport mode. You can then hit the PASM button to return the shock response to normal while keeping the sport throttle response. On the auto transmission, sport also has an effect on that, IIRC. I've got a 6 speed, so I can't speak much to that.

POST 3Original post

I don’t think cars equipped with sport or the chrono pack get lower springs. I have a base 2.9 with the support chrono pack, and it is sitting at “normal” (high) height, which I prefer for my daily driver. For pdk equipped cars, not only is the throttle mapping sharper/more aggressive, it changes shift points and for sport plus, the shift speed as well, even locking out 7th gear, because race track.

POST 4Original post

You're correct, PASM equipped cars are 0.4" lower than non PASM cars.

POST 5Original post

" in non sport mode for example, depressing the accelerator 1/2" results in 50% throttle, in sport mode depressing the accelerator the same 1/2" results in 75% throttle" But guess what? 100% is 100% in both!
