Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi first of all apologies for only ever asking questions and never giving advice I promise i will get better!!! My 996 C4 feels a bit different at higher speeds. The front end seems quite light on dual carriageways at around 90 ish. Also i am getting a body shake but not through the steering at anything over 120. I am assuming its an aerodynamic problem. Anyone got any ideas? Many Thanks.

POST 2Original post

More likely to be tyre/geo related ie. mismatching, tracking/geo misalignment, pressures etc. Get the geo checked out, check the tyre pressures and wear characteristics etc

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That was my initial thought. But would that not mean i would feel the shake through the steering?

POST 4Original post

I am by no means an expert, but I had a similar situation with my 02 targa, especially the lighter feeling at the front end. I also had the shakes once it got towards three figures. Both problems were solved as soon as I had new tyres fitted, although I did have the alignment done at the same time so that could have contributed. The car felt 100% better to drive immediately as I left the garage. Hope that helps.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for this. I have new Michelins on the front and Pirelli on the rear with about 5mm Could it be the with the difference in these?

POST 6Original post

Hi, You will get a lighter feeling on the front at 90ish, the front will lift however this will settle down from 100plus onwards. All variants of 911 have the front lift, more evident in c2's. Assuming you are doing a bit of spirited driving to get to 90! Best to get geo set up. There is a thread about a good place to take your car for a set up. Regards Alan

POST 7Original post

Without wanting to sound too controversial you really shouldn't mix tyres on a Porsche. A few will say it's fine, my personal experience is not to, you can experience strange handling traits etc Get the geo. alignment sorted, you OPC can do this or a decent independent with good experience in such matters.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info have been to Costco and ordered new rears. And will call and book in for geo check in the morning.
