Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm currently looking at a 1999 996 C4 with 100k miles. Looks to be in decent shape and has most of its records. Has had regular maintenance and the clutch replaced. The current owner does not know if the IMS bearing has been replaced or not. Its a relatively cheap car at ~15K and my plan is to drive it as a 2nd car for awhile and possible turn it into a track day car eventually. I'm sure I'll have to with replace the IMS or motor at some point. I'd like to hear others thoughts on this plan.
