Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I'd be there in spirit. I'm around maldon essex at the weekends, in a gtv for now, Doh.

POST 2Original post

Next few weekends are out, but then I will be free - won't get the 964RS for a few more weeks anyway. Scottster will come along no doubt, too. Rgds Domster

POST 3Original post

I'll be up for that. Should have new car in a week or so, I'll tell you what it is when I get confirmation it's mine

POST 4Original post

I'm up for that, any excuse to take the car for a blat!!

POST 5Original post

Are potential Porsche owners welcome ? Currently looking into a 968 and would love to come and see and speak to current owners. Cheers Paul

POST 6Original post

I'm always up for a drink and a blast - defo can't do for a few weeks tho (exams, weddings, holidays etc) but mid June onwards is cool for me.

POST 7Original post

Where are you all? Sb already mentioned surrey. I'll be around essex countryside at the weekends (as is PAC) but can drive out further. Where would the mid point between us all fall?

POST 8Original post

We're all South east, but varying from Domster and me in Bucks, UV and others in centralish London, you guys out Essex/Kent way and a load in Surrey. No-where is close for all of us but I guess the Surrey area would be 'closest' generally?

POST 9Original post

We need a decent pub, ideally with a beer garden, somewhere we can all find easily. Knowlege of picturesque local twisties would be ideal too! Any takers?....

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, pdavison all would be welcom.Mid June-on would be fine with me. I'll try and think of a suitable pub with some good roads nearby in Surrey area.Anyone any ideas ? Steve ---- There's a pub at Forest Green South of Dorking was used recently by Porsche Club G.B. It is surposed to be very easy to find and there are some good roads round there--think its called The Parrot. Will find out more and keep you posted guys. >> Edited by sb930turbo on Tuesday 14th May 13:17

POST 11Original post

How about making it a Pub - Pub drive. Most of these meets seem to be spent in a pub talking (especially when it is raining...) when what we should be doing is driving. It would be bloody great to see 5-10 porkers charging down the road...

POST 12Original post

Thats what we did with the Basingstoke PHers drive when we did it that time. A convoy charge is a bit of a laugh (if you don't do it too often...). Depending on when it was I'd come along...

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thats a very good idea U/V--Thats what P.C.G.B. London region did back in April from the pub at Forest Green that was in my previous entry. Steve Yes can confirm its called The Parrot Inn. See-- www.forestgreen.com for map etc. What do you think of this location chaps? >> Edited by sb930turbo on Tuesday 14th May 13:28 >> Edited by sb930turbo on Tuesday 14th May 13:49

POST 14Original post

Location seems fine to me, but I would be careful with 'convoy drives'. These invariably turn into a road race, and most people don't know the route/gatsos etc. It's fine if everyone agrees to be sensible (it can be done... just) but as soon as someone goes hairing off into the distance, you can often count the minutes before someone gets pulled by the police/crashes/breaks down/overtakes dangerously etc. Not saying I wouldn't do it, just that everyone has to have their sensible head screwed on (easily removed if you want to prove Autocar's 0-100-0 stats for your car in front of other pistonheaders ;-) Must be the Rover second car talking! Rgds Domster

POST 15Original post

Hmmmn. I've only been on a few, I suppose, and everyone was entirely sensible on those occasions - more of chance to enjoy a nice road with "traffic" in front and behind that actually looks nice...

POST 16Original post

Domster, I've got the bloody Rover today, knew it was missing something tho - You've hung onto the Werthers, tartan rug, Rover driving attitude and Cleenex (not going to speculate on what you need these for tho ) We're all grown men here, well, I'm nearly grown anyway. Go for the convoy, mucho more fun. D

POST 17Original post

Dunno why you're so keen, Mr S... I think your drive back from the crazy bear was a case in point! If you hadn't have put the brakes on for JeremyC, I'm sure his overtake would have put him into the Stadhampton scenery ;-) Last convoy blast I went on was an Esprit owner's run, with about 25 cars in tow, in my LC. It was interesting to see how the cars drove against each other - I had an S4S in front and an old Turbo behind, and I reckon they were all quite evenly matched at 8/10ths on cross country roads. However, after five minutes of careful motoring people started overtaking like crazy (inc me, but I had to keep up, eh?!) and I was doing more than a ton on stretches of the A34. Went through a hidden gatso, along with my wingmen, at about 30mph over the limit, but it didn't flash - just goes to show how a little red mist can take over. Oh, and then I massacred a stupid arsed pheasant who ran out in front of me - didn't like the look of those Esprits, went for the big green fridge instead. No damage luckily, but I wouldn't have been going so quickly if not showing off in convoy. Went to the Nurburgring with BMW M series owners once, and the sanity lasted for about five miles from calais. Then it was 140 all the way... hmmm. Fun but not that clever really. Two cars came back on transporters (after being eaten alive by the 'ring) as if to prove a point. Most sensible people in convoys are the Lotus Carlton owners' club, amazingly. They stick to 80 all the way - and have a real 'let's stick together in a pack' mentality. Bizarre to see a line of 10 all trundling along the M11, with Mondeos pushing past! That said, we're all sensible people, so I'm sure a nice convoy outing could work. As long as I have my werthers and tartan rug to combat the red mist. >> Edited by domster on Tuesday 14th May 16:33

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Don't think the roads in that area would suit a race-- putting my sensible hat on?! I had in mind a nice scenic drive!!don't think we want any pile ups or speeding tickets. >> Edited by sb930turbo on Wednesday 29th May 16:45

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone got a date in mind for this event? How about Sun 16th. June? Steve

POST 21Original post

bugger - that is one i can't do - how about the 23rd, or am i outvoted? domster

POST 22Original post

I could do the 16th but will go with Mr C for the next weekend........ only cos he's soooooo hard since starting his gym programme!!

POST 23Original post

I'm building up some muscle so I can rib Flasher about TiVs without him beating me up - he's a bit of a man mountain ;-) Domster

POST 24Original post

June 23rd is not a problem with me. Are we all in agreement then?

POST 25Original post

June 23rd it is. Hope to have new motor by then. Otherwise I shall be trailing in the fiesta

POST 26Original post

I will try and get along in mine. Cheers Lee.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I should be o.k.for Sun.23/06 .Will update you later chaps. I have e.mailed the Parrot to see if we need to book.If so will need a rough idea of the numbers,if we do.I will update you when I have any more info. Steve >> Edited by sb930turbo on Thursday 16th May 18:18

POST 28Original post

Being a man of leisure at the moment I met up with sb this afternoon for a bit of 911 Turbo talk. Steve, you must get some pics posted so everyone can pay homage... Goes like stink too >> Edited by Ultra Violent on Thursday 16th May 21:34

POST 29Original post

I should have my RS by the 23rd, so will be good fun. UV - did the 930 flatnose feel quicker than your 965, or are you just being kind to a Porsche of an older vintage? There's something wrong with my speed judgment these days - I thought the Turbo 2 3.6 was 'quite rapid' rather than 'super-dooper tremendously fast' ;-) Rgds Domster

POST 30Original post

It's very different because of the 4 speed box. Mine is more revy and comes on boost earlier, but requires you change up sooner if you want to 'make quick progress'. Steve's boosts a bit latter but you really feel the turbo and it makes use of all of the longer gearing. They are probably very similar, just different ways of getting there. No getting away from it though a Red Flat Nose looks fab

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the kind remarks U/V, thought yours was bloody quick too!.Will get some pics posted soon. Steve. So what time do you all want to meet chaps.?Do you want to meet in the morning have a drive, then back to the pub for lunch?Or do you want to make it in the afternoon about 3pm so that we avoid the lunchtime crowds, have a drive and then back for a drink and chat? POST 35Original post

Yeah, Scottster and I are still up for it. Book the pub, I'll have some grub if it's at lunchtime. Domster

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

O.k. chaps, I'll ring the pub and let you know if we have to book.If we do I'll post message for nos.etc.

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have spoken to the pub and if we require lunch will have to book, so will need numbers please if you want to do this.Otherwise we could meet at 3.00pm after the lunchtime rush. What do you think chaps?

POST 38Original post

I am up for grub, presumably Scottster will be too, but wait for him to confirm. Take that as a definite yes from me though. Rgds Domster

POST 39 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What time do you want to eat, suggest could meet up at about 1200 have grub, then go for a drive? Regards Steve

POST 40Original post

Depends when you get a booking - 1.30 is easier as the pub is at least an hour away for me - but which pub is it, where is it etc.? Have these details been previously posted? A sensible scenic drive afterwards then back to the pub for a swift drink would be good. Rgds Domster

POST 41Original post

Hiya Any other 964'ers going to this frollic? I'd hate to pitch up and be out numbered by bigger and better (there is not better in my mind, LOL ) , sounds like a few Ferrari's going too?

POST 42Original post

I should be in my new 964RS, and don't expect to be upstaged by anything less than a GT2

POST 43Original post

You guys going to chatsworth house this weekend?

POST 52Original post

Domster Any idea on how many chaps are going to this meet? and another question if I may, How many of you are taking the missus (So that I know to ask her along or not!)

POST 53Original post

There should be more than a handful - I dunno exact numbers. Whenever I have arranged meets we get at least a dozen people, although some share cars and some are, indeed, partners of pistonheaders (spot the glazed eyes ). Scottster and I will be going, his missus maybe, but he wasn't in the office yesterday to confirm attendence etc.

POST 54Original post

Yer, will be going and more than likely taking the missus too. Book us in for the food rounds too!

POST 55Original post

Cool Sounds like it might be a good day, Cya'll there, I drive a 1992 Cobalt Blue Carrera2 (A babe magnet) lol Look forward to meeting ya'll

If I book a table/tables for 1.30pm is that ok with everyone? If I make it for about 12 persons at this time can allways revise nos later. Regds Steve >> Edited by sb930turbo on Thursday 30th May 13:37

POST 58 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Excellent, Have booked table for 1.30pm for approx 12.If anyone else is eating /can commit then please post message. Thanks Steve

POST 60Original post

There will probably be room in mine. Just kicked the misses out (not of the car) so she definitely won't be coming

POST 61Original post

UV, My car is still at South Bound. I would like to go. Any chance of a lift?

POST 62Original post

Steve, count me in for food if its not too late.

POST 63Original post

Yep, just give me a ring to arrange time etc...

POST 64Original post

Domster, the rover sounds tempting. Sorry to hear that UV, but the spare seat sounds good. Try not to make up with her until monday.

POST 65Original post

Hey, it's my spare seat you should be hankering after, not UV's. Everyone knows that my car out performs a Turbo 3.3 in every possible way. And that's just the Rover 414i I may have to take the 964RS along to *really* show him up

POST 66 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No problem turbofree.Have booked table for approx.12 persons. Will confirm actual numbers with pub later in the week. Regards Steve

POST 67 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you know when you're picking it up yet Dom?

POST 68Original post

Dom, Dom, you should be careful. Remember you are driving a Porsche now not a Vauxhall. That sudden realisation that the car starts, and goes in the direction you want may confuse you. I suggest you take a couple of days to acclimatise....

POST 69Original post

Dom, if you have the RS with you I'd be in there like a shot. Afterall, it's the kind of spec my own will finally be. Looking forward to the meet, hope the suns as stong as it is today!

POST 70Original post

Bollox! Just got a call from the owner saying that it is still being fettled and won't be ready until end of next week. So it looks like I'll have to turn up in my Rover (Scottster can't make it) and blag a ride in the back of UV's Turbo 2 - RR's already got the front reserved...

POST 71Original post

That power to weight will be buggered. Someone better tow us to help out.

POST 73Original post

Yeah, sh!t happens, but it will still be a good day. You'd be surpeised how easy it is to spin the wheels when they are only 175 wide!!!!

Yeah seems like it should be a good day.Hope the weather stays fine.

POST 92Original post

Hi guys, Steve I got the 355 back on Friday evening just before they closed! But my sister was visiting me from Spain and I had to take her to the airport today, so unfortunately couldn't make it today. I was hoping to at least make it down for the blast but I just got back now! Luckily the weather was excellent and I hope you guys had a good one. I hope you did your public duty and really hammered the cars, perhaps even a little sideways action to please to spectators! Really sorry I couldn't make it. Was really looking forward to it. If only she had come over next week! Look forward to the next one. Regards

POST 93Original post

Thanks to Steve for organising a great venue. For those that couldn't make it in the end, you missed some cracking sunny countryside. The small convey of 911's looked and sounded fantastic. UV's Turbo 2 made a good impression of the USS Enterprise on a number of occasions . Always good to put a face to a name too. Cheers guys.

POST 94Original post

I'll second that. Thanks very much for organising this afternoon Steve. Good to meet you all and to put faces to names, (also to see some beautiful machinery!!) Should definetely do that again when Domster finally gets his RS. Cheers Paul

POST 99Original post

Yup, was good fun, although the Rover decided to pack up on the way home - I was chasing Turbofree in his 993TT and UV in the Turbo 2 on the way back to the A24 when my clutch decided that enough was enough. It was on its way out for a while and I was waiting for the next service interval, but full bore motoring took its toll and I was left with slippage above 1/4 throttle! Traffic was murder on the M25 on the way back - 17 miles of queueing - much worse than rush hour! I think we need to relocate the Parrot nearer High Wycombe

We started at 10am (bit of a beer head from the night before !) and didn't finish the cars until 8pm last night Still ,hopefully I see you all next time, eh. Did any of you lot notice it is the 911 & Porsche World meet tonight, at the Blue Ball again ? I can't make it, but thought some of you might have been interested. Also, the Rennlist guys are meeting tomorrow night over near Egham. There is normally about a dozen or so 993's and a few 964 and earlier. All are welcome, as it is about the people and cars, not which forum you belong to. People arrive from about 7pm, and see if you can park around the back. We’re trying to get an entire car park full of porkers Name & address are : Fox and Hounds Bishopsgate Road Englefield Green Egham, Surrey TW20 0XU Cheers, John. (Iris Blue 993 C2)

I would do the Rennlist meet, but the 964RS is still beyond my grasp, this week at least. I will try and do the next one as Rennlist is still quite a useful forum, although it doesn't seem to have the quickfire UK banter that PH does.

I thought I saw your hazards come on Dom. Couldn't be positive as I was watching out for suicidal pedestrians
