Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I'd try cleaning the MAF first, and if that doesn't cure it get a diagnostic check done.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New to the forum, need some advice, my 2000 model C2 has developed a loss of power above 3000 revs, started to happen in 2nd gear, now in all gears. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions ? Regards Richard Smith ps the car has had major service carried out 1500 miles ago, done 86000 miles

POST 2Original post

Try a search for cleaning your MAS (air mass sensor).

POST 3Original post

Could also be that the Variocam solonoid has stopped working - that would make the engine seem a little flat at over 3000rpm

POST 4Original post

Would that not give you an engine check light? Mine did when I had a problem with it, but that usually came on at idle revs.

POST 5Original post

I don't think it would Paul, not on a RoW car using DME7.2 - USA it would. It will register a fault code in the DME, but not trigger the CEL. I'd try cleaning the MAF first, and if that doesn't cure it get a diagnostic check done. That's the only way to troubleshoot these type of faults.
