Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Just read the Excellence test drive of the Cayman whilst in Barnes & Noble. For all of you who have ordered Speed Yellow - go take a look, there are somegood pictures. It's a good article and they rate the car very highly.

POST 2Original post

Brian, The article is already here at: http://www.planet-9.com/article_read.asp?id=23 Enjoy!

POST 3Original post

Like the bit near the end, saying that the Cayman opens up a new niche, and would be perfect for someone that fits into any of these categories: 1. doesn't like convertibles 2. no need for rear seats 3. 911 would be too much of a financial stretch I fit into all 3 - so the Cayman must be perfect for me then!!

POST 4Original post

I don't buy #3. I don't know anyone who could afford a 60k car and not 70k car... Especially since everybody adds options that add at least 10k, that makes it even closer.

POST 5Original post

Agree with chrismillion. My Cayman prices out at almost $74,000. That is entry 911. Unless someone is stretching to get into a Cayman and stripping it down to $62,000 to $64,000, you should be able to get into a stripped 911. Some options on Cayman are standard on 911 so we are only talking another 6% which is less than the single PCCB option.

POST 6Original post

Same sentiment. I've put about $20k of options into my Cayman, so I could have gone into a decent 911. But the fact is I really want the differences of the Cayman. People aren't going to buy this car on a cost basis. There are plenty of decent alternatives out there for a lot less. The interesting question will be to see how the standard (non-S) Cayman is priced.

POST 7Original post

What do you make of the comments regarding the exhaust note? The editors almost describe it as whimpy, which seams to be the opposite of all the other comments posted regarding the exhaust! I recall some other earlier comments saying it will be the loudest Porsche in quite some time? Any thoughts?

POST 8Original post

Over here, the Cayman is about $50k cheaper than the 911. So it all depends on which market you are talking about.

POST 9Original post

What I want to know is how this compares to the 987S. I will be very happy if it is as aggresive sounding as the 987S. Anyone read any reference to the 987S exhaust note?

POST 10Original post

I'm too ignorant to figure out how to link something to the site, but there is a video on the Rennteam Cayman board from Germany that is definitely worth looking at and listening to! I think the engine sounds great on the sound track. Maybe somone who knows what they are doing can download it to our site.

POST 11Original post

I have been informed by my dealer that the exhaust note is louder than the 987S, wont have to wait long to find out.....................Nov 23rd (26th launch)

POST 12Original post

The Motor Trend article says the U.S. get a louder, different exhaust than Europe. JHellow
