Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked the X50 Turbo which looks great, however price is too high for me at that mileage (almost 100k).
Leading evidence: 'Check x50 turbo' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check x50 turbo' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After lots of careful research I've decided the 996 is the model of choice for me. As well as being purer drive without tech overload, I actually like the lights as makes it look different to all the others 911s around.
However I also like my cars to be a bit different. I've always wanted a yellow car but for me it only works on certain cars. And I absolutely love Speed Yellow on the 996 C4S / Turbo. It looks fantastic!
But finding a Speed Yellow 996 is super hard. Then finding a manual C4S (ideally) or manual Turbo in great condition is extra super hard. So.....
(1) do I just wait it out, not sure how often these come up (or maybe someone is thinking of selling theirs)?
(2) or buy another colour and have it wrapped? (I've never wrapped a car before)
Any guidance greatly appreciated!
There have been one or two (but only one or two) for sale over the last few years that I have seen. The problem with waiting it out for a specific model / colour is that when it comes up you may feel pressured into compromising all sorts of other things. Whilst I agree original is best, it may not exist to your wider satisfaction.
I would suggest putting wanted ads / posts out. This might precipitate something coming out of the woodwork that would otherwise have stayed hidden away.
Is buying a rough car and rebuilding / repainting it to your colour / spec within the realm of possibility?
I'd buy a decent car in whatever colour comes up and then get it wrapped. Yellow isn't to everybody's taste and this will give you more options for buying, and more options when it comes to selling.

you are really limiting your options by waiting for an unusual colour in top condition . you may miss out on several years of enjoying driving one of these cars . I personally would buy the best car I could find for the budget and then enjoy it there are lots of things you can do once you have a good car . repaint ,wrap , race livery all sorts but by buying a good car you should reduce the risk of potential rebuilt or huge maintenance costs that would spoil your 911 experience. :thumb: :thumb:
I really wanted a 996.1 C2 X51 Manual Aerokit with M030 and LSD in speed yellow... But one never came up.
Ended up with a 996.1 C4 Manual Aerokit with M030 in Zenith Blue no regrets it's mega, having an ideal spec is great but it's not always possible, no 996 is bad apart from a Cabriolet Tip in Pink and even then it's not really.
A friend of mine ('Sinky" on here) is selling a beautiful condition Speed Yellow 996 Turbo with Manual transmission. I'm pretty familiar with the car and it's a really good one.

Totally true, also as other responders say. Many options can be retrofitted if missing, e.g. heated seats, parking sensors. Sunroof would be nice but I'd probably sacrifice for colour. I don't care about satnav. It will be more on overall condition, and how well it's been looked after throughout it's life that's most important.
So yes I could be waiting for a long time for yellow one to appear in the condition I'm looking. On other hand, I've never wrapped a car but I guess a black 996 would be best contrast for yellow wrap where original paint will still show (eg under bonnet, engine bay).
I'm also not sure a wrap will look as good as paint even in gloss, but on other hand, fresh wrap will probably look better than 18 year old original paint (but could also make other things stand out looking old, e.g. rubbers).
I'm too much of a perfectionist to start with a rough car, and it would probably lead to financial ruin! I'm personally not a fan of cars painted different colours. I looked at one recently that apparently had a "top job" but I could still see areas where the original paint was showing (although hard to see). So the wrapping idea seemed a good option.
Seems to vary quite a lot. I've seen from £1.5 to £3k+. Quality of materials is factor, but probably more dependent on how far they go to fit the wrap. Eg. removing bumpers, etc or just wrapping them in place. However I've only watched a few videos so I'm no expert.
So wrapping is bit of an expensive gamble for me, plus I would also need the original paint sorted into good condition before the wrap, then pay to have wrap removed before selling (no one would pay good money buying wrapped car as underlying paint could be disaster). So all in, it would probably be £4-5k, which is a serious investment, without knowing how it will turn out, or how long it will last.
Thanks Macca38. I checked the X50 Turbo which looks great, however price is too high for me at that mileage (almost 100k). I can't find the C4S, can you share link?
Thanks Sinky, and that's exactly why I love Speed Yellow. Great looking car 8)
If anyone else knows any very good condition manual yellow C4S's (my favourite) or Turbo's (more speed than I will ever need) let me know.
Or if you have experience with wraps and can offer any advice. Thx!
sorry but you should first put a price tag, and let me tell you something I'm fan of a yellow and you can forget about yellow cheap 996 I was looking for long time and if this cars are up for sale price is added accordingly for yellow paint, only once I did see 996 yellow sold for £11000 it was very nice car 3.4 with gt3 aero on it but that was before I got myself C4S.
Turbo is awesome
part exchange
At last the Porsche world is coming round to the realisation yellow is best and commands a large premium :thumb:
Wrap :hand: :hand: :hand: has to be yellow everywhere to count
