I have an 05 987 and have a few problems I am trying to sort out.
When refueling the car it doesn’t want to start, you have to give it pedal to start. I’m going to replace the fuel purge valve, but I’m having a hard time locating it. Everything I find online explains the valve on a
986
though. Is it by the canister, or at the engine?
My other problem I’m working on is a
battery
drain. Pulling fuses while watching amp draw, the only fuse/relay that showed any significant draw was the one at the top right of the fuse panel in the drivers side kick.
Thanks for any help!
That block you have circled is not a fuse, it's a relay. There should be a fuse somewhere else that powers that relay, so you need to troubleshoot further, skipping that relay for now. I did search around to see what that relay is for, but I couldn't find a reference...
What sort of current levels are you seeing with that relay in/out? Has the
battery
ever been dead? If so, it needs to be replaced... lead-acid batteries don't like to be discharged that low, and are often damaged by it. A smart charger will not reverse the damage, no matter what the box on them says.
Many problems are solved by replacing the
battery
... I'd suggest starting there first...
A cpl years ago My 07CS developed the no start after fueling issue. I could start it only after putting gas to the floor.
I troubleshot it down to the Regeneration valve. The valve directs fual vapor back to intake. when failed, car acts flooded. Car will start cold only because fuel vapor pressure has bled off.
The Regeneration valve is located on top of engine under air intake; yes got to remove intake to get to..

has caught my attention about the regeneration valve. I’ve never heard of such a part name, unless there might be another name it goes by. Where did you purchase this part, and if I may ask, what can I expect to pay for one of these? What is the difficulty in replacing and how long did it take, please? My ‘08 starts flawlessly when cold, but when running errands and returning to the car after a short interval, it starts rough, sputters, coughs and occasionally will fail at first, only to start on a second attempt, exhibiting a hot start problem. I might look into this as a possibility for my issue.
I believe this is generally called the purge/regen valve solenoid. As mentioned, it is located under the intake manifold.

outlines an "easy" fix.
If you do not want to buy the whole assembly, 987.110.128.00 ($), the valve itself can be purchased separately (Bosch 0.280.142.380) but you'll have to fashion the tubing yourself.

Sorry for the delayed response, and thank you for the replies!
I had to lift the
alternator
leads to check for a drain, so I had the engine covers off. I replaced the fuel purge valve (or whatever name it’s called lol) but I won’t know if that fixed anything until it gets re fueled.
I should have stated, that is a relay and I believe it’s a “main” relay, because the car was dead with it pulled. I didn’t keep track of the amperage, but it never got within spec pulling fuses. All the doors were open, latches were latched, and the car sat for 30 min. I had a knife disconnect on the
battery
, with leads to the meter connected across it. After 30 min we pulled the knife switch so all current went through the meter. I want to say I started around .68 amps, but the only component that dropped enough current to matter was that relay.
Again thanks for the help!
