Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi - New to the forums but faced with an issue on my 2000 911 996. I’ve had an issue with the door locking system and today came to close the door and driver door sensor is in locked position and cannot close the door. Using the fob won’t release the mechanism. Read some similar threads but no real solutions found. Any help gratefully received

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I also noted that when using the fob to try and unlock / lock I’m getting the double beep noise and window moving up and down

POST 3Original post

When you say you cannot close the door, will it not close as in the latch is already closed? Or it won't latch? Or is the window not dropping (will the door close if you open the window from the switch?)

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi - The latch was already in the closed position and I wasn’t able to close the door. However, I have now been able to reset by opening from inside the car and the door then will close. I still have the double beep when locking with the fob and from google checks it sounds like I have a faulty door sensor?

POST 5Original post

I have experienced something similar but with the door closed and it would nnot open. In my case (996.2 cab) the door lock mechanism had reached the end of it working life and had to be changed by an indie as I could not get the door open. At least your door is open. It took about 45 mins to change the unit and the unit was circa £200 from OPC. If i could have waited it would have been £45 fromautodoc as it appears to be the same item from a vw golf. The details are on the autodoc website. It looked fiddly to me so if i did it myself it would have talen a lot longer than 45 mins!
