Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I have a 996 turbo s and when I switched the ignition on to start it today a warning came on saying gear not selected properly , but the car was still in park . Turned the key and car started fine but I noticed the indicators aren't working also the hazards don't work either. Has anybody got any ideas of what could be wrong ? Cheers Tony.

POST 2Original post

My money would be on the ignition switch. When they start to fail they cause all sorts of wierd electrical problems. Not expensive to replace, and there is a DIY in the Technical Articles section.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi , just got the car back . Turns out that it was the hazard warning light switch needed replacing , indicators working fine again . Cheers Tony.

POST 4Original post

Nice cheap repair Often is but its knowing what My AUDI guru says always start with the cheapest part. Fuses, Bulbs, Switches

POST 5Original post

Only the hazard light switch is not that cheap[:-]

POST 7Original post

If it was less than £96 pounds then in a guru sort of way it was cheap.
