Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

I've had mine a couple of times be down in the orange and when turning the ignition on a few hours later has jumped up to a 3rd of a tank, hence me saying check your fuel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, my wife and I had been on a cruise for a week and obviously as soon as I got back home the first thing I wanted to do was jump into the 996 and go for a drive. After 45 mins of great driving I thought to myself 'this car is just a joy to drive' and then, as if the great god of Tempting Fate had been eavesdropping, the car spluttered for a few seconds and then died!! No warning lights, no issues at all prior to this, it just stopped and won't start. The engine tries to kick-in but never starts. So my question is, does this have all the hallmarks of a failed fuel pump, and if so how do I check? The fuse at C4 is ok and I've plugged in my code reader and there are no errors reported.

POST 2Original post

Have you tried putting fuel in? C4 gauges aren't the greatest.

POST 3Original post

With the cap off you should be able to hear the pump running if you bridge out the relay

This sounds stupid...but can be the case - I had the same happen on our Mercedes V-Class

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And the prize for resolving the issue goes to....drum roll please.... @Alex . Just topped up with some fuel and it started straight away. Called the garage, as they were originally going to send a low-loader over to get my car over to them, and he's said that the gauge could be faulty, or the float in the tank so I'll get those checked to be on the safe side.
