Hello Gents,
After extensive search not only on this forum but online generally I cant find an answer yet for my issue.
Well... self generated issue. I am turbocharging my
Cayman
, I know, I know most will say go for TPC, but I dont know, first of all I like to do things myself, second I dont think the price is fair specially since I live in europe and will have shipping maybe customs and etc... and third I've read many not so good reviews, maybe they're the minority and I might believe so because generally satisfied customers just stay quiet while not so happy ones will go all over the place to say bad stuff.
Anyway, back to the thing, as I am moving forward with the project, Ive searched the fuel system to find out we are very limited fuel-wise. I do not want to add an extra injector and for now Id like to avoid changing them, since I will drive with low pressure to see how the car will behave.
After calculations of flow and how much hp I could feed with the original system I realized I need a slight increase in fuel pressure to keep the injectors stock, from my research the
cayman
fuel pump
will provide more or less 3.8bar. I need 4.6.
Then the problem is, the
cayman
has a no return fuel system, so I'll make a return line and put a adjustable fuel pressure regulator, anyone here has done it before? If yes Id love to chat about it just so I dont go full blind.
The
next
thing would be changing the injectors, now, to which one Id change? anyone here knows the compatibility of other injectors that can give a bigger flow?
I haven't done that to a
Cayman
but in the past on a domestic combos you could add a FMU that will boost fuel pressure per pound of boost, vac operated. I am not sure what the
ECU
in these cars will do with a return style system, I haven't even seen that on race set-ups.
Here is an example from Vortech Superchargers..
Fuel Management Unit (FMU) | Vortech Superchargers
The Vortech Standard Fuel Management Unit (FMU) is designed for use on multi-point electronic fuel injected engines. It is a secondary fuel regulator that installs

Check out the MRN race technologies twin turbo kit! Much better design and fit than the overpriced TPC stuff imo. I've just completed the install on my
Cayman
👌🤩
You can raise fuel pressure with a return line and adjustable regulator to get more flow without changing injectors. For higher flow later, use compatible Porsche OEM or high‑flow aftermarket injectors and make sure to tune the ECU.
