Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi there, i have just had a bit of a shock with the costs of the power steering pipes that run front to back on a 996 turbo. has anyone found any alternative suppliers over design 911 and Porsche? this is defo something to watch on these cars as the cost to fix would choke a horse due to parts prices.

POST 2Original post

I'd be looking at ebay or maybe a repair attempt of your originals depending on whats up with them! If you posted some pics peeps on here could advise. Porsche parts prices are getting insane!

POST 3Original post

My car has had a decaying stearing pipe joint (can't remember the real name) for some years, I had the standard stainless clips applied and it has held together so far but in the mean time bought all of the kit to convert the car to a cup electric steering pump for this very reason. The steering feel should be exactly the same as it supplies exactly the same bar pressure as the engine driven setup. You lose the steering pump from the engine which aids in engine load, it helps greatly with cost as you never have to rebuild the steering pump and lose the expensive pipes you mentioned. I think all of the kit was about £400. There is an excellent video here.
