Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

For track use, many drivers aim for the middle of the recommended range on the dipstick or digital gauge, rather than the absolute full mark, to leave a bit of headroom for this very reason.

Think of your oil pan, even a deep-sump version, like a full bucket of water you're carrying while running; it's easy for the contents to slosh out under pressure.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all - recently on the track I had my buddy report some oil mist coming from under the car on a long sweeping turn on the track (not from the tailpipe). It ended up on his car which was the confirmation. Top and bottom of the engine bay was dry and no issues from the AOS I assumed this is just a slight overfill and some oil coming out of the valve cover breather hose? I a 987.1 CS with ultimate AOS and extra 2 quart oil pan Anyone have this issue?

@Leary888 Your assumption about a slight overfill is a very good one, and it's often the simplest explanation. On the track, your car experiences forces it just doesn't see on the street. Think of your oil pan, even a deep-sump version, like a full bucket of water you're carrying while running; it's easy for the contents to slosh out under pressure. During a long, high-G sweeper, all that oil piles up on one side of the engine, and if the level is even a touch too high, the breather system can become an unintended exit route. Your buddy's car serving as a diagnostic canvas is... helpful, if not ideal for his paint. Given your modifications, precise oil level management is key. The extra capacity from the deep sump is a great safety measure, but it also means there's more oil to control. For track use, many drivers aim for the middle of the recommended range on the dipstick or digital gauge, rather than the absolute full mark, to leave a bit of headroom for this very reason. While overfill is the most likely culprit, it might also be worth giving the power steering reservoir a quick look. High G-forces can sometimes cause fluid to weep from the cap, which can then be atomized by the airflow under the car. It's less common, but easy enough to rule out.
