Parts trivia. Where did this come from?
A little context - dropped the front subframe enough to swap in a Tarett front adjustable swaybar and this little guy fell down from above. Can’t see any discernible place where it would have come from, so was hoping someone might recognize it. Any ideas? Thanks
It's definitely an o-ring, but from where is the question.
As soon as you start leaking something, you'll figure it out.
I think we need a tiny bit more information - year/trim package of your 987..?? You may want to look at:

I think the O rings for the coolant hoses might be around that size.. I have some spares in the trunk of my '09 .2 - I could try to find them. Then I'd also have to find a quarter. Finding the quarter might be the hard part of this task (I refuse to take any change anymore..)..
Welcome to P9,
@Trav7
-- Pretty sure that's too small of a diameter for the coolant hoses (987.2),
@deilenberger
- I ordered and extra one, but my Boxster "Cherry" and I are currently 1500 miles away for me to double-check.

Fun🤦🏼😆
metal, springy metal too. But doesn’t match the retaining clips for the coolant lines from what I can tell. May just have to run it and see if I can spot any leaks anywhere but there isn’t anything obvious. I thought maybe the power steering but the higher pressure hoses have crimped fitting and no where for a retaining clip of that size to go (I think)
I think it is most likely roadway debris. I'd expect a retainer spring to have holes to accommodate pliers. That piece looks very un-
Porsche
to me.
Looks a lot like a ball joint boot retaining clip, as others have said probably picked it up off the road.
I think you’re right. I spotted a similar one on a tie rod ball joint, so one popped off at some point in time. Either way, not gonna cause any big issues
