Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am going to FL for the month of March and am bringing my bicycles. I was going to put them on the roof of my S8 and my wife is driving separately in her car (taking two days, my responsibility to take the bikes).....and now I'm thinking I could take the 996 if I could just get the bikes on the roof.
I have a Saris rack, but don't think it would work as it has to go where the door opens.
Anybody in the Chicagoland have a roof rack that they want to lend/rent to me? I would think my bike holders would fit on the factory rack.
Want to take the 996 to FL....but have to change the water pump first (just got I) and get the parts back from Poland that are presently out, but I think they will make it.
Or maybe just take the S8......
Paul, save your self a bunch of aggravation! Drop the rear bumper, and the exhaust... the room you gain to get the water pump done is crazy! I dont know if you can realistically do it with the exhaust in place but by pulling the bumper it goes super fast!
Check your roof rail mounting points.
If its an early car the plugs in the threaded receivers are prone to seizing. Ask me how I know
Had to pull the rails, pull down the headliner and then replace mine. Straight forward process but had to wait a few weeks for new roof rail receivers to come from germany.

Thanks for the info, just bought the Seasucker mini bomber....got a great deal on it from a guy who rides on their sponsored team. Will be using it and I and I can use it on my Audi much more easily vs. the Saris rack I have for it.
