With delivery in 2 days, I asked my dealer to get me a list of all of the configurable / programmable settings for the car so that I could specify how I want it setup all at once. I'm talking about settings such as does central locking lock all of the doors when the ignition is turned on, when vehicle speed is > 5 kph, etc; or does a single press of the key fob unlock button unlock just the drivers door or all doors; how soon do the doors relock after unlocking with the remote but not opening a door...
All of this for a CS without
PCM
- so it has to go on the dealer computer to set these. The dealer, not having any documentation had a tech put a CS on the computer and run a printout of all the options. It's a very cryptic list. The only reason I could understand some of it is because the Germans (at least between
Porsche
and
BMW
) use very consistent cryptic language.
For example, doors locking with "terminal 15" is a reference to the ignition switch being turned on. "Terminal 15" is the ignition switched +12V relay output on BMWs, and apparently the same on Porsches. Most options have at least two settings that the Germans call "inactive" and "active", plus sometimes a 3rd setting. It's not always obvious what "active" means in the context of the option. How the customer is supposed to know this is another question...
Many of these functions are programmed both as default settings and for each of 3 specific keys for the car. That is to say, each key can be set to cause different behaviors. On of the functions that I can't figure out is "Comfort windows"?!?
I left the fax of
PWIS
printout at work, so I don't have it with me for reference, but has anybody created a "secret decoder ring" for this? If not, I'll work with my dealer & his tech's to figure it out and write up an article on it. The dealer owes me big time
for botching the scheduling of my delivery such that it didn't happen today and won't happen until Thursday.
Comfort windows means that they go auto-down as you hold the key, the problem is that the feature is disabled in US cars with no way to enable it, even with the
PIWIS
because a module isn't present. The work around is to buy something like the Mods4Cars module. There are other settings in
PIWIS
that are not really possible even though they are listed so don't be disappointed if you can't do some of them.
Comfort windows - when driver is in pain windows are trained to provide comfort
That's not going to do it for me! I need more than the windows.
(Maybe one of those
Pirelli
girls.

Settings
Hi L8:
I was wondering if you ever had those settings figured out
I am working with my dealer on this very issue right now and they are not sure what I am talking about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:thanks:
Settings
Here were the only ones I could find and what I asked them to be set to (this is a 2007 Cayman S).
Unlocking rear lid: Type 2 (doors stay locked when lid is unlocked)
Automatic door locking: Type 2 (Doors lock automatically when a speed of 3 - 6 mph (5 - 10 km/h) is exceeded.)
Clock: set to 12 hour AM/PM mode
Thanx Robert, If my dealer comes up with some additional info I will post it in this thread
Someone may have covered this by now, but...anyone ever get a list of
PIWIS
-controllable codes? Or is the Mods4Cars remotekey the only option for ulocking these goodies (auto windows-down, HOME lights, etc)? I'd love to know what I can do if I get the car up on a
PIWIS
computer.
Hi L8Apx, is there a chance you could scan the printout into a document and post on here? It'll be really useful.
Rob
I would like to call everyones attention to the
2007 Owners Manual
, pages 23, 26 and 30.
Rob,
I would have done that way back when I originally did this post. However, the document lists options that do not work in the (then current) programming of the CS. So it would have just added more confusion. I've long since tossed the document.
Ken, this is programmable in the US cars, I had mine programmed to do this, since I never got up the courage to install my Mods4Cars chip. If I insert the key in the door, I can raise or lower both windows from outside, a useful feature when trailoring the car.
