Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I believe I need to disconnect the battery and then somehow pop-off the airbag/cover before accessing the fixing to the column - it's the airbag removal bit that I'm not sure about.

Suggestion

I would play it safe and disconnect the battery to prevent the computer from sensing the missing airbag and tripping the airbag warning light on the dash (this requires a trip to the dealer to clear).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Can anyone confirm how to remove the Sports Steering Wheel from a Cayman S? I believe I need to disconnect the battery and then somehow pop-off the airbag/cover before accessing the fixing to the column - it's the airbag removal bit that I'm not sure about. Do I somehow release this from the rear side of the steering wheel? Thanks and regards James

POST 2Original post

Hello James, I would play it safe and disconnect the battery to prevent the computer from sensing the missing airbag and tripping the airbag warning light on the dash (this requires a trip to the dealer to clear). Then if you feel on the back of the bottom spoke of the steering wheel, you'll find a small hole. Insert a small blade screwdriver in the hole then press firmly straight in on it. When enough pressure is delivered, the airbag assembly will practically jump into your hands. I hope this helps! Regards, Joe

POST 3Original post

are you getting rid of your wheel? If so I'm looking for one!

POST 4Original post

Why don't you want the sports wheel, are you dissatisfied with it?

POST 5Original post

Remember, airbags are explosive devices. If you are not sure what you are doing, DON'T. If you do take it off, remember do not put it on the bench face down.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
