Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Good idea with the practice, I can use the current one to practice taking it off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car arrived with me with a bit of an interior hack by the PO. The leather at the bottom of the A pillar had come away and then been hot glued back onto the trim panel. It looks awful, the leather is discoloured and needs to be sorted. I bought a replacement from Germany but the part is different, possibly off of a Gen 1 car and doesn't fit my C4S. Super annoying. To make the best of it, how easy/hard is it to remove leather from a trim panel? If I can get the leather off of the good but wrong panel onto the original I could salvage the situation.

POST 2Original post

It will be glued on. A heat gun or hair dryer should be enough to get it off. Then use light coats of contact adhesive on the trim and the back of the leather to put it back on again. (Leave it for 5 minutes until tacky then put it one and it will grip instantly). Practice on the tatty bit first. Although if he has hot glued it, it light not come away ok on that one. You might have to get some sand paper on the left over bits.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. Good idea with the practice, I can use the current one to practice taking it off. It’s a bit of a 1 way operation though

POST 4Original post

It might be an idea to try the new piece first to be honest, I bet the old one will rip when you try and remove it as it has been glued on all over. It might only be glued on the edges, so try the heat on where it is pulled over the trim and stuck down. If you do burn it it won't show there anyway.

POST 5Original post

Just be aware that the heat can shrink the leather too. So try and keep to the edges first.
