Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just bought 06, 57k miles. Dealer told me their porsche certified mechanic went through the car and it has no issues. When the car arrived, we scanned it: missfires p0300, pasm failure 5400. On top of that, navi is stuck on “starting navigation” and wont move, ive even done reset, nothing. Dvd looks nice and clean. We reset the codes, drove it for 80miles, and when i shut it down and turned on again in 10 minutes, pasm failure came back on, and car started to have a bit of vibration at idle. I tried turning the steering wheel, and driving straight, nothing... pasm is still in error. One thing ive noticed is that the car starts kind of weak, as if the battery is weak. Ive read somewhere that these cars are sensitive to batteries, so is that my issue? Or am i looking at something else? I am kind of considering a lawsuit and calling a car a lemon... but it does feel special, black on black, manual, aero package, sport seats, black sport wheels...

POST 2Original post

Great car. You will enjoy it. I’d post in Renntech. Very knowledgeable moderators and contributing members. No nonsense. Misfire- likely culprits are cracked coils. Mileage is right for that. Does it get worse in damp weather? Pasm- no idea. Search renntech. Weak battery- easy to check. Other culprits are the main posts on the car near the battery and/or primary electrical leads both which are relatively easy to check and replace. Again search renntech. AND, pull the seal on the IMS bearing at first opportunity, change oil every 5k max, always try to keep revs above 2.5k when driving, keep the oil right up to top always and never park on a slope with the front pointing upwards. A mild hard start is Normal on many 997s. I had the same thing on my 997. As a result of this I always keep my car on a battery tender. It diminishes the hard starts and extends battery life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

+1 on the trickle charger for 997. Unless Im driving mine everyday it goes on a tickle charge. The 997.1 and on Porsches have so many computers/chips in them that consume small amounts of electricity 24/7.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
