Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Again, I'd recommend creating a few lower-bitrate standard-stereo files, putting them on USB, and seeing if they play.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have recently bought a 2010 987.2 with PCM 3.0 on version 2.20 and both USB and CD can see the tracks but clicking on the track does nothing. It wont start. Doesnt even start at 0 seconds and pause, just shows no time at all with the line showing time elapsed remaining empty Am I missing something really stupid, or is the unit defective?

POST 2Original post

When I've seen such issues on other players (not Porsche) this can happen when the encoding isn't compatible. In other words, the "file browser" can see the file, but the player doesn't understand it, so it doesn't play it. In other words, check to make sure that the file format is compatible with the player. You can usually find what's compatible in the manual, or throw in a few "simpler" formats like MP3 to see if they work... then you can figure it out yourself.

POST 3Original post

Schwinn is likely correct. When I had a 981 , I spent a lot of time converting music to mp3 so I could then burn a CD (no USB port) to play in the car.

POST 4Original post

Hi. Thanks for your help. Ive tried about 100 tracks from a dozen sources on cd and 3 different USB drives. All exactly the same. The PCM sees its an MP3, sees the title, but wont start playing

POST 5Original post

You need to make sure the encoding matches what the player can handle. What bitrate are you using? What is compatible with the system? Again, I'd recommend creating a few lower-bitrate standard-stereo files, putting them on USB, and seeing if they play. Also, start with only a few files, as I think there are some limitations on how many it can handle. Frankly, if you have an AUX input then I'd just use that with an external player - the Porsche system isn't very easy to work with from what I've seen.

Everything is 320 kbits. Will try downgrading and see if that works. I'm going to add Apple Car play I think. Solves everything including updating navi maps
