Has anyone tried: 987/986 Boxster Rear Speaker Kit - which is a speaker kit you install in the storage cubby behind the seats. $299/Suncoast. You do lose both end cubbies, but since I've never had anything in either one I don't see that as a huge loss. (Maybe I once put gloves in one - but that's about all that fits - and they would equally well fit in the center cubby.) Questions on this one: Installation (I do have speaker level subwoofer outputs from my aftermarket head unit, currently unused..)? Resulting sound? Good, bad, indifferent? Stock Boxster Bose subwoofer that replaces the storage cubby. Has built-in Bose amplifier. Around $300/eBay used. Questions on this one: Installation - requires some amount of wiring since it will need power, both constant and switched? Resulting sound? Good, bad, indifferent? Under/behind seat powered aftermarket subwoofer. Many sources, Amazon around $250-300. Questions: Installation - wiring required for power and switched power, plus audio feed. Mounting to foot well pan? Resulting sound? Good, bad, indifferent?

A few years ago, I installed this subwoofer. There’s no room under the passenger seat, but it fits fine, standing vertically behind it. Infinity BassLink SM 8" compact powered under-seat subwoofer enclosure www.crutchfield.com I purchased the sub wiring kit from Crutchfield Too. Ran the power wire directly from the battery. That joined up with the sub left and right and the switched power wire, directly from my Alpine CarPlay head unit. Ran everything through the center console and out behind the passenger seat. I’m not someone who thinks that overwhelming amounts of bass somehow makes music sound better. This is a small sub, but the Boxster is a small space. When I first bought the car, like everyone else, I was shocked by the near absence of low frequencies. This subwoofer does a very nice job of filling those in at a very reasonable cost. Next time you’re at one of the JSRPCA events, I’l demo it for you.
