Any recommend bulbs that offer more light than the OEM ones?

So may have to hold out on the Xenons until the new year and will just change the bulbs in the mean time!

I'm thinking that the issue has finally been resolved with the 997, but if not, lets hope Porsche make use of the lighting department at VAG!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
Finally picked up the car on Wednesday, was a nice (but long) drive back from Stockport. Luving every minute of driving it, didn't even mind the Monday morning drive into work!
Didn't get a chance to wash/wax her this weekend as i was away in Sheffield. As soon as i do, i'll post some new pics. Here a link to the ones from the advert.

Thanks for all your help during the buying process, was a BIG help! Cheers!
One quick question, the headlight bulb (main light) blew this morning. Any recommend bulbs that offer more light than the OEM ones? I was thinking of these.

Cheers everyone,

Thanks Sundeep
How much to fit Xenons?
A friend of mine installs HID kits, but the light i've seen from these looks as though the car is driving with Full beams on all the time so a bit wary about this. Are HID kits legal?
TBH, funds are a bit tight at the moment what with car purchase, birthdays, Xmas and new years all coming up! So may have to hold out on the Xenons until the new year and will just change the bulbs in the mean time!
Taran
as long as they are aligned properly they won't be an issue, the problem is that they need to be aligned after fitting which is what some folk don't do.
Hi Taran, well done! I think silver suits the Mk1 996 the best as the headlights really blend in perfectly with the bodywork.
If choosing an HID package, go for a digital HID as these are fully RF filtered and do not cause any interference with your existing electronics. Older analogue HIDs cause interference.
As a previous 2-time customer, I can highly recommend

. They are marginally more expensive than the cheapest available, but the quality of their units is superb. Customer service is top notch too.
edited to add>> don't forget to choose the whitest (ie, 4300K) lightbulbs for the most light output. They aren't as 'cool' as the blue 6000K bulbs, but to me headlights are a safety thing... and for that you want the brightest bulbs available.
Thnaks for the info Adrien.
I'll check them out. Obviously i need bulbs asap as i cant drive without,b ut will defo look into HID's and Xenons.
Not sure what rating the bulbs i was looking at are, i'll see what the details are.
Taran
I don't know why the standard lights on a 996 are so poor. I remember the first time I drove my first 911 (996 targa) at night and was dismayed at how rubbish they were. The very next day I booked it into Autofarm for some HIDS. (£400 IIRC).
Enjoy the car Taran but you must realise you are on the slippery slope now
Lol..i know Dave, i know. That plan of selling it in a year and doing something sensible with my money is already moving further and further away!
Back to the lights, i share your thoughts exactly. Coming from a stable of Audi's, the lights are way below the standard one would expect, even compared to the non-xenonx of our '99 A4. I'm thinking that the issue has finally been resolved with the 997, but if not, lets hope Porsche make use of the lighting department at VAG!

Halfords sell upgrade bulbs on a buy one get one free offer (£20 i think), i did not think they where much brighter but they would do till you upgrade i guess
Nice car BTW
