Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm pretty set on the 996 but there are a few things that i'm not sure on.

I'm going to take a c2 and c4 out for test drives and then decide.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I need advice. Within the next month, i want to be a 911 owner but i have questions.
I'm pretty set on the 996 but there are a few things that i'm not sure on.
1. Does the Carrera 2 come in a cabriolet model?
2. Are the hoods on all the convertables power?
3. How heavy is a hard top?
4. I'm hearing bad info on reliability and build compared to older models. Is it as bad as what people say or is it just a small number of people with load voices?
5. Are the Carrera 4's much slower than the Carrera 2's?
6. Are the Carrera 2's that much more fun to drive?
If any of you guys are happy to chat over the phone with advice, let me know and i'll send my number.
Hope someone can help and thanks in advance

Mod : poll option edited as the Carrera Coupe is the same as the Carrera 2 Coupe
1. Yes, the Carrera Cab is the C2
2. Yes
3. Can be lifted by 1 person, actualy quite light
4. Would need to be specific ?
5. The same, C4 has more traction but difference in miliseconds
6. What ever floats your boat, a C4 with 4wd adds to the safety and security, but both drive differently.
A coupe and a cab are very different cars, you need to try both.
If you want a lot of fun, a GT3 !
which car are you looking at ?
I would go C2 Cab. Try and go for 2002 model onwards (facelift) as the hood came with a glass screenwith PSM and sports exhaust if you can get it. The C4 is very different to drive, but as many say, is safer. But not as much fun to drive in my opinion.
I had a C2 cab prior to my current GT3 - I loved it. 8)
hello Mansoor999, one of the hairdressers here  , welcome to the place.
Cabs are great fun, fantastic place to be when the roof's down in the summer and with the hardtop on very cosy too.
Dave's right, the hardtop can be lifted by one person but unless you've had serious weetabix/spinach i'd only ever put it on the car using 2 people as its awkward and ungainly and has 2 locking prongs that could do serious damage if you don;t line them up right. That notwithstanding they're a great car and a lot of fun. And if you get sports exhaust etc you can hear the engine better than these tin top wannabe's
have a wander around the forum, there's plenty of great advice and help in choosing, opinions, technical help etc etc. the buy, advice and comparisons sub-forum will help lots too.
thanks for the quality feedback guys.
Steve O, i like the response. It didn't quite help me with the answer though but i'll work on it. I'm going to take a c2 and c4 out for test drives and then decide. I'm told i wont really tell the difference though unless i'm really pushing the car.
ANyway, i'm hoping to purchase withihn a month or so, so wish me luck
Welcome aboard and good luck with your search. you will probably find that colour combo options, mileage and conditions will drive your decision. see what's out there for your budget if your not fussed either way pick a good clean car with good history and don't forget a PPI - pre purchase inspection if buying from non OPC. most people go for an extended warranty too.
C2 if you want to tippy-toe around every time there's a drop of rain, C4 if you want to be able to overtake people in our typical British weather!!! Unless of course, unlike me, you are a 'track God' and thrive on the risk of disappearing through hedges backwards
Also, traction off the line, and out of corners, is amazing with the C4.
My reasons for preferring a coupe all revolve around torsional rigidity when I'm having fun, or not hearing truck noises, etc when I'm driving because I have to! But it's a personal thing - my Bro-in-Law won't have anything other than a rag-top.
