Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Key Reception
Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Outcome without a verified action link

I get out of my car and tried locking the doors with my key one more time and low and behold, it worked.

POST 1Original post

I was at the car show in downtown Toronto this afternoon and parked in a public lot where there was a fair amount of construction going on with large commercial buildings in the area. I got out of the car and used the key to lock the doors, but they would'nt lock. I tried to pop the front and rear boot and the key did'nt work. I got into my car and called my salesperson and explained the situation and he said it was likely that there was too much interferance in the area and the signal in the key could'nt pickup reception. He told me to lock the doors manually by sticking the key in the lock. I get out of my car and tried locking the doors with my key one more time and low and behold, it worked. He told me in the future to stick the key in the ignition and the codes will just roll over. Has anyone else had poor reception with their keys?

POST 2Original post

Yes, but I didn't realize that is what it was. I thought my battery was going low in my key. Thanks for the input. If this is correct, lets get it into the faq.

POST 3Original post

It has happened a couple of times with my key in very congested areas. I think this is quite common on alot of cars, not just Porsche .

POST 5Original post

Has happened in my Cayman - one very specific spot in Cincinnati near a TV station - but never in my Jeep.

POST 6Original post

Interference If you're near a TV or radio station (800MHz?) your remote won't work. Just do it the old fashioned way---lock and unlock the car with the key. When you unlock the car, be sure to put the key in the ignition within a few seconds or the alarm will go nuts.
