Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Called Porsche, who sent out a very posh truck to where I work and a very nice guy had a thorough look and could find nothing wrong with it, It has happened twice since, checked the oil physically all seems well, OPC Cardiff have explained that I have reported a fault that cannot be found, I have the warranty and If anything untoward does happen, I am covered for a new engine, or new sensor, whichever is required...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, can anyone help with the following. I have a 2003 C4 Tip, and recently on the digital display a warning has flashed up intermittently with the 'Oil can' symbol and the words 'failure indicator'. At the same time the oil pressure dial drops from 5 to zero and then returns to 5 after a few seconds. Any advice would be appreciated before i pop to the garage? Thanks Denovan01

POST 2Original post

It could be total loss of oil pressure in the engine (very bad) but more than likely it's the oil pressure sensor that's failing, causing it not to output a signal etc. It could be simply a dirty connection, intermittent etc. It could also be very bad..... Let's hope it's purely the sensor. Get it checked asap.

POST 3Original post

ditto to what Jeff has says, hopefully it's just a sensor

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks jeff - i wll get it checked out.

POST 5Original post

I've had exactly the same! Hi, I have recently bought a 2003 C4S and have the Porsche warranty, I have experienced the 'OIL Failure, Beep!, Oil level drops to zero for a second, then all is normal'. Does this sound OK ?? Should I be worried about porsche warranties and OPC's ?? Thanks Paul

POST 6Original post

Had exactly this problem on my C4S. OPC changed oil pressure switch under warranty, all fine after.
