Suggestion

The Y shaped piece has the two leads going to the cans, the single one going into the tip of the grey actuator is the vacuum feed, check these to make sure that are fully connected.

If this is the case you'll have to reconnect, might involve removing the rear PU to gain access to the baffle actuator on the side of the exhaust can.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My car's been stood for about 2 months and the PSE is now stuck in noisey mode. Any clues on fixing it ?

POST 2Original post

Your vacuum has failed. Or the electronics have stopped working. The default for the PSE is noisy, so if you've got a voltmeter pull the plug off this (browny/orange plug)...... ....and check this is getting power when the switch is activated. If this is then it's the vacuum, check that by making sure all the little black hoses that come out of the actuator (above) are connected. The Y shaped piece has the two leads going to the cans, the single one going into the tip of the grey actuator is the vacuum feed, check these to make sure that are fully connected. If these appear to be fine then it's most likely that the exhaust end of one of the hoses has come off. If this is the case you'll have to reconnect, might involve removing the rear PU to gain access to the baffle actuator on the side of the exhaust can.

POST 3Original post

Can i just say what a fantatsic reply Damian I actually paid money to get mine in that state...;-)

POST 6Original post

Damian, at the Y piece if you pull off the entry piece (to the Y) should you feel a vaccum (it'll stick to your finger) - when its in quiet mode?

POST 7Original post

Damian you clever man. My PSE is also stuck on sports. I will look into this further thanks. -TJ

POST 8Original post

Thanks guys! Yes you would Also for those of you that are brave (or foolish), if you unplug the Y-piece and suck....yes suck the end (as you would a McDonalds shake) you should hear the baffle actuators make a noise as they close. You can actually silence the exhaust, a nice test but not very practical This should identify that the baffles are working...if not they may have seized shut and need de-gunking and rust removed etc etc

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had it up on the ramps & it seems the passenger side actuator has failed. Any clues ?

POST 11Original post

Awesome reply Damian How do I get PSE on my Turbo......... I miss it sooooooo much

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post
