Suggestion

Found them way more comfortable than other Buckets, more supportive you feel more of what’s go on through the seat rails and you can adjust lower than any other bucket seat that I have sat in on a GT car, and they are heated.

Suggestion

Assuming the Op is going to be using the car for it's namesake IMO they'll be a bad choice as you cannot get access to the rear storage apart from between the two front seats while putting your back out in the process.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking to spec standard 4 way seats, or the 14 way ones my sales chap is recommending? PM if you wish Thanks

POST 2Original post

Personally - and seats are personal in terms of comfort - after 30 years and 250,000mls in all types of Porsche seats (inc early ‘70s and later buckets, and various 18-ways) I actually prefer the current 4-way Sports+ That’s what I would have in a Touring - simple, comfortable, easy adjustment, less weight and less money.

RS Guy said: Looking to spec standard 4 way seats, or the 14 way ones my sales chap is recommending? PM if you wish Thanks Depends how much adjustability you want as they are I think fundamentally the same seat and it’s just the amount of adjustability that differs (I could be wrong )

POST 4Original post

Initially had decided to go with 18 ways in my Touring as found them so comfortable on my GTS Cab, then got to sit in a car with the new folding buckets and completely changed my mind. Found them way more comfortable than other Buckets, more supportive you feel more of what’s go on through the seat rails and you can adjust lower than any other bucket seat that I have sat in on a GT car, and they are heated. Also find them very comfortable on long trips.

POST 5Original post

Worth trying both 4 and 18 way. Last time I tried (992.1) the 4 ways went slightly lower which was nice but I did appreciate being able to extend and tilt the seat base in the 18s. I don't need all the lateral squab adjustments though. They're wasted complexity and weight to me.

POST 6Original post

So.... I'm going to be controversial and say that if you are buying a GT3 (of any flavour) you need buckets. Yes, the 18way and 4way are comfy and great seats and I guess work with the Touring ideals. But, the engine is mega and soft seats or not if you are looking for comfy you might be missing the point. A GT3 is a noisy, mental, angry thing. Honestly, I get it, your thinking is sound, but if you buy comfy seats you might be missing a trick. An exception is if you spec rear seats ,(maybe). And while the buckets are actually very comfortable, I also accept how comfortable they are to you will depend on your body shape. (Obviously this is my point of view, I accept is does not mean I right)... Oh one last thing, I noted on the 992.1 that the buckets sat slightly lower than the 18 ways.

Totally , the comfort seat feel like you are sitting on them not in them .

Me too agree Had comfy seats in my first GT3 and come to the conclusion it was a spec mess up, after my 2nd and now third GT3 having the buckets GT3's are an event car and imo, keep them that way

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies, but my GT3 is the 'Touring' model hence I need comfy seats? I'm not going to be blasting around a track, I could done that in my old 992 RS which had buckets.

POST 10Original post

The regular seats are not comfort seats they are sports seats , I had comfort seats in a cayenne and there is a world of difference .

You don't need comfy seats mate. Honestly, lots of people draw the same conclusion. It's a GT3 without a wing, that's it. Sports seats are great in a Turbo S and a Targa, but you need buckets in a race car. Touring or not, it is very much a race car for the road. RS is a race car for the track. Enjoy mate.

POST 12Original post

I had a good look around and sit in a 992 GT3 Touring on Tuesday evening at my local OPC that was hosting an event. It had the bucket seats which were very comfortable and held you quite firmly, looked great too. Assuming the Op is going to be using the car for it's namesake IMO they'll be a bad choice as you cannot get access to the rear storage apart from between the two front seats while putting your back out in the process. Even with the seats slid as far forward there's not enough gap to squeeze a holdall through. When we tour in our Turbo S we take several soft holdalls, bring back cases of wine etc in the back seats which can be accessed relatively easily by folding the seatback or lowering the soft top. The 18 way are supremly comfortable and practical. You may not have considered this????

POST 14Original post

How much softer is the 992.2 suspension compared with the 992.1? I know Porsche have said it is considerably so, but what does that mean? I found the 991.1 far too firm for the road, for me anyway, that was with the regular sport seats, so much so I agree with what has been said above, might as well go buckets. But if it is much softer, I was going to say especially the front, but found the back end very hard too, then maybe the sport seats would work? Have you not driven one?

POST 15Original post

RS Guy said: Thanks for the replies, but my GT3 is the 'Touring' model hence I need comfy seats? I'm not going to be blasting around a track, I could done that in my old 992 RS which had buckets. Any GT3 needs buckets IMO. Leaving off the wing and some minor aero adjustments do not change the character of the car - only really the looks. Hence I want buckets for the full GT3 experience. If I'd upgrade to the .2 I'd have the folding buckets, no question. Have folding buckets on all other 3s bar the 2.1 where they weren't available.

POST 16Original post

Go for comfort. I have LWBs in my 992RS and 18 ways in my 991 RS. If you are not tracking and want a road car then no need for buckets. I have had a variety of seats but for non-track primary use get the seat you best like for a quiet drive in the country. I prefer my 991 to 992 except for track use.

POST 17Original post

One restriction I found when considering either buckets or 4 way Sports Plus seats on the 992.2 Touring is both options seem to preclude anything other than a black interior. I tried several versions on the configurator but never had any joy. As the Touring will be predominantly used for touring not track and Porsche do some nice interiors, I went for 18 way. Spec locked on 18 July so too late now, that die is cast. As regards buckets generally, over the past 20 years I have found 964RS, 997 fixed back, 997GT2 folding, CGT fixed and 991 folding buckets all to be comfortable for long days touring. Fixed back with a cage can be tricky fitting Mrs Lowndes hatbox and handbags. The one to watch out for is the 918 fixed back. I had them on a Cayman loaner but found the position too upright. and couldn’t wait to give it back. That said I know RPM and other do a mod to alleviate some of this. (As a postscript to this I may be experiencing a Damascene conversion on the 918 seat as I spent a couple of hours in one yesterday and found it just fine)

I wish I had them in my 992RS but they were not available, so I have the fixed ones.. I had superb folding bucket in my 997.2RS which were the best of the LWBs for me.

The rear seats only add 14kgs so you can’t really feel the weight difference.
