Since then nearly 5 months - car has only used 1 bar of oil on the indicator.

Suggestion
I thought they had to warrant any repair work, so if the replacement RMS is weeping then they should be replacing it for you if it's within the 12 month period.

Clutch with 10K miles on it - should I get that replaced - I believe I am quite kind to clutches

Last time I was there I had to show the lad servicing the car where the mileage was as he couldn't find it anywhere and had just about reset every setting in the computer looking for it....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

At my last service in June OPC advised RMS was weeping and there was a fine mist of oil.
Since then nearly 5 months - car has only used 1 bar of oil on the indicator.
Would you let them change the RMS ?- this will be the 4th!
Could it all go pop if I don't get it done? And then I find Porsche wouldn't honour the warranty
10K miles since the last clutch change - done at the same time as the last RMS - so I suppose I could get that done at the same time though to be honest the first clutch lasted 30K so is probably unecessary.

If you have an extended warranty, or the last RMS was fitted within 12mths, obviously get it done as its no cost to you.
If not, how much is dropping onto your driveway? If its a drop a week, consider how much oil is actually in there to start (someone much cleverer than me prob knows that fact - 10L?), and how little impact a drop a week would do to that supply.
Obviously if its a drop an hour, thats a different matter...
Its all covered under warranty - just wondering if its strictly necessary.
A fine mist of oil isn't a problem to me - its an engine - I don't expect it to be clean - I don't think a weeping RMS has resulted in a blown engine.
Leaking intermideate shaft seal perhaps.
This whole RMS issue seems to have been blown up out of all proportion.
Clutch with 10K miles on it - should I get that replaced - I believe I am quite kind to clutches
Concensus seems to be to get it done - Thanks
If its all covered under warranty then it seems a no brainer.
I heard some very scary stories at the weekend from an ex employee......of what goes on in their service centres.
Lets just say it is not uncommon for young lads to spray oil on an engine, go for their lunch and come back and pont out 'leaking' so that they can get all the warranty work......
Shocking some of the things that go on at some dealerships.

Are you serious?

Does not surprise me :x
vlad, i don't think i would get another clutch after only 10k and you'll prob need another RMS by the time you do need the clutch replaced.
Like a heart attack.
I'd never take my car to a main dealer.

I had a main service done at OPC Guildford last month. Then moved house to Reading. I decided to get the warranty and booked in to OPC Reading for the 111 check. Was told new RMS required and quoted 12 hours at £90, + £36 for the seal. Did I want it done. Blew my top and went to Guildford and asked why they didn't spot this at the service. They said it was dry and not required, and issued a warranty there and then. Back to Reading, car put on ramp and inspected by Customer Services Manager who agreed it was dry. Case for obtaining money by deception?
Funny that. The last service mine had before I got it, said slightly damp RMS as advice.
I recently had it serviced again and purposely asked them to check it and they said it was fine.
On another point, how much oil would you expect your car to use ??
