Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
45 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Similar to practice of forcing people to buy 2 Taycans a Macan and a base 911 to still not get a GT3 allocation.
Just got a 992.2 GT3 allocation, and I'm trying to go for PTS.
My dream color was Forest Green.. so no doubt that I thought it for my first pick.
However, it seems like the newly added oakgreen neo is becoming a popular pick.... and I'm kinda worried if those two might not look that different.
My alternatives are Ipanema blue or Viola purple.
Which color would you go for?
Forest green is wonderful.. would it worth the PTS price over oak green neo?
Surely for such a large purchase you should choose the colour you like rather than what others like ?
The OG Neo is a 'legends' colour, so cheaper than PTS if thats any help..
There has already been an Ipenema 992.2 Touring delivered and re-sold. I’m sure you could find some pics of it.
I’d just go for the colour you like. It’s just too personal.
Congrats on the allocation. And yes, is it winged or Touring?
Jack
OG Neo is lovely. That would be my choice. If PTS I'd be different and go for RS Orange, Targa Florio maybe Gulf Blue or Viper Green. No point going PTS unless you get something completely different. They look amazing in Gulf Blue IMO.
I've thought long and hard about the answer to this very question and my choices every time come to smyrna green, fjord green, nato olive or back up choice etna blue
Got to be one of the more outrageous greens or blues on a winged car.
Just beware that PTS slots are specific, you’ll need to have haggled for a suitable slot.

Absolutely, Oak green Neo is being done to death. Forest Green or Porsche Racing Green were my choice for 992.1 T at launch, when PTS and Buckets were on the launch car. Then Porsche binned PTS and Buckets and Bose. When they were all eventually available the car had gone up twice and the build was touching 130k plus on the road costs. No sale! I had all the green samples and for me Forest took it over Porsche Racing Green, then confirmed to me when I saw Rahal one on insta. Fabulous colour, changes a lot in Sun and cloud.
I really like my Carbon Black, but if it was available at the time of order I would have gone Signal Orange. If your going to go a Green would save some money and go OGN.

I would go for Signal Gelb or Signal Orange if sticking with Porsche colors (I assume PTS, not PTS Plus)
If I was paying for the PTS Plus one, then I would need to think about it for a long time to make it truly unique (it would be quite cool to give it a name).

How much is PTS Plus?!
31,963 Euros vs 15,446 Euros for just the standard historical color one [this pricing is for a GT3 RS, I think they change it depending on model]
Honestly, the mind boggles.
Surely PTS is there because owners want a specific colour.
If you haven’t decided / don’t care just pick a standard colour.
Honestly PTS is becoming like carbon fibre pedals… the only reason people want it is because it’s expensive.

in fairness, I think 31k on a 300k car (once you specced the Weissach stuff) is not that much to have a truly unique colour (assuming you want to keep the car long term). Ferrari charges you that amount for some historical colours. More painful is the minimum 8 months additional wait period they mention in the description.

^^^ Thats lovely. There was also a special yellow released a few years ago called saffron yellow. I've seen it and it would look really nice on a GT3. OP how much is PTS also I thought Porsche only tend to do PTS towards the end of production?
Viola Purple, Smyrna Green or Signal Yellow for me! Has to be something very different to justify the allocation and cost.
Lovely position to be in.
It may be helpful, on Instagram there is a page called 'ptsrs' which uploads lots of PTS cars. Obviously the configurator render isn't perfect.
That’s the thing with PTS isn’t it, it must be different enough for the cost.
My favourite ever colour on one of mine was speed yellow but to hell with paying £9k for it these days!
Well thanks a lot for this thread, now i want them all. Of the colours on offer i would go Lugano or the oak green !

I hope you do a better job at teaching your children the value of money.
Spending £20 or £30 on paint because you can is very sad.
Get the colour you want. Unless you're surounded by PTS cars in similar colours...
These dark metallic greens are all the rage.
I got mine in original Oak Green because I've wanted it for decades... seeing a few in the same colour on the internet doesn't bother me at all.... in real life I'm yet to see another Porsche let alone the same model in the same colour...
Forest is lovely and in the flesh quite different to Oak

don't have children as I think the world is overpopulated. That is the same as saying don't spend 4k on paint for a 40k BMW and pick white or black instead as those are free colors. I probably would not pay 30k for paint, but then again I would not order a 300k new car. I'd buy it used in whichever color is available. I can certainly understand why someone would see value in it though.

My last message came out wrong. It was not meant as disrespectful, I see your point.
I think it’s a sad state of affairs where the likes of Porsche and Ferrari charge that for paint… just because they can.
Similar to practice of forcing people to buy 2 Taycans a Macan and a base 911 to still not get a GT3 allocation.
I think it s a sad state of affairs people complain that Porsche give you an awesome palette.
People bemoan Porsche for all kinds of options but look on the bright side, should you wish to, you can buy any of their models with nothing added and enjoy the ride. Anyone think TDT on here cry s himself to sleep over his none Weissach RS in free black of a night?!
Manufacturers offer a limited palette for cost reasons alone, it s easier and therefore cheaper to produce. Want something fancy? Pony up!
Almost every run, Porsche do usually add some sort of pseudo PTS colour on their standard (if optionally extra) range and if you don t want, white or black nearly always look great on Porsches.
Now, if spec ing PTS becomes mandatory in order to get a slot which I hear more and more about that s another thing entirely but that s a story for another thread.

no problem, I took it as it was meant that the prices of paint are ridiculous. I fully agree that it is bad value for money if looked at rationally, but purchasing a car like that is not really a rational decision and manufacturers are taking advantage of that fact. I think the (imo very nice) brown colour of my FF cost the first purchaser something in that region - and that was 13 years ago. Wasn't there an Aston Martin on here recently where the paint cost a 6 digit amount, insane imo. One could make an argument that PTS Plus is better value for money than normal PTS, as for that they at least then need to test if the color works on the various different materials etc.

Let’s all face it, Porsche are absolute masters at rinsing folks for extra money, I have been more and more thinking of
Late that the real value is in the close to standard GT3 cars, with just a few choice extras added. In this case at around £170K on the road (if a £170K GT3 can be classed as value!). So long as you accept it’s going to have to be a fair bit cheaper come resale time/or your keeping it long term……

yup, I always thought the best value was a guards red (free at the time) manual Carrera with bucket seats (5-6k from memory) - when such a thing still was possible, I thought it would be brilliant - you get a brand new, well developed sports car with sporty seats for not much money (compared to what other cars cost)

Red is usually the bottom of the list for car colours but GTS red always looks good
Really fair question. Do you pay for PTS to get a rare colour or do you get PTS because you get a colour you love.
I whole heartedly recommend Forrest over Oak but its personal preference isn t it. Forrest is a complex and subtle colour that looks completely different inside, outside, and from different angles.
Not sure Im helping, so have a photo of my Touring in Forrest Green.
