Gentlemen my first post after searching a lot of threads on this. These 305s seem very similar in diameter, sidewall and circumference and revs per miles
https://tiresize.com/comparison/
265/40R19 27.3x10.4R19 27.3"Equal 10.4 760 4.2 85.9
305/35R19 27.4x12R19 27.4"+0.4% 12 758 4.2 86.1
Question is at an inch and 1/2 wider will they fit.
I like the aesthetics of the wider tire. That is my main reason since I getting new ones I started comparing and these are closer in Revs per mile than the 275 or 285s.
The 295 35 R19 is 11.6 inches wide and very similar in all other specs so I guess that is a real option too if it fits.
It might look "beefy" but feedback will be poor. I would only mount a 305 on a wider wheel, say a minimum of 11".
beefy? I'm not so sure. Upsizing is delicate and depends on wheel width and the tyre design (shoulder pattern, sidewall design, etc).
wouldn't it look too large on
Cayman
rims? 305 are
911
sizes IIRC.
I wouldn't do it. You need 11 inch wide rims which is too wide for a
Cayman
. I had this setup when I got my
987.2 Cayman
and I hated the look and the ride.
find a tire you like in that size, such as MSC2, then go to
TireRack
and look at the specs by size. 295 width will fit on 10" - 11". 305 width will fit on 10.5" - 11.5". That is why the late model
911
often have wide rear wheels.
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+Cup+2
so, if you are on stock 981 wheels 8" & 9.5", then they will not fit.
Gt4
runs on 245/35/20 & 295/30/20 and I have not heard any complaints about the wheel looking or feeling too wide. but that is on 8.5" & 11" wheels.
Very much appreciated guys! So if I am on stock wheels what size can I fit bigger than the stock 265 in rear and 235 in front?
Glad I asked!
I run 245/30/20's up front and 305/25/20's in the rear with H&R lowering springs. No ride, rubbing, or driving issues. They look great and fill the wheel well very nicely.
my frend am getting 305 rear on stock 19inch 987
cayman s
rims. They are maybe 10inch wide idk. What is your rear rim diameter? And did you do some offset etc ,? Please help me out. As much info is appreciated
I'd check the weight difference in the 305 vs. the stock 265 tire. A 305 is likely to be about 4-6 pounds more per tire, depending on the make and model. May not sound like much, but that's a lot of rotational mass at the very outside of the wheel/tire combo. It will impact everything - handling, comfort, acceleration, braking - for the worse.
If you don't care about that and are purely going for aesthetics, ignore this.
