Here was one for sale that hit the exact mark and which turned out to be impossible to think of any reasons not to buy.

Quite nice to see a poster recommend a car on a what car thread and the thread OP go out and buy the car!

It’ll have the Porsche warranty so I won’t be looking to make any changes really, just learning the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
PistonHeads: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Not collected it yet, hopefully within a couple of weeks but I’m quite excited!
Will be interesting to see how the ownership experience compares to the 996 GT2 I had for 14 years. A little step back in crazy stakes but I’m 20 years older than when I bought the GT2 so maybe it’ll be more “age appropriate”
Any ownership tips and experience would be appreciated! It’ll have the Porsche warranty so I won’t be looking to make any changes really, just learning the car. Hoping for some track days probably Spa and Donington to name just two of my favourites. Portimao would be epic but a bit of a road trip so will take a lot more planning.
So Hi to fellow 991.2 turbo s owners!
Of course there’s always the chance it’ll feel too heavy and may end up a gateway car to the 991.2 GT3 Manual I’ve also been considering. But I suspect not. I suspect I’ll love the excess of torque and the way it’ll flatter me on track days.

Yes it was quite an excellent experience thanks. I basically was looking at the usual 991.2 more exotic offerings and the GT4RS but needing something GT3 like to sit in but with turbo power. And bam! Here was one for sale that hit the exact mark and which turned out to be impossible to think of any reasons not to buy.

You timing was perfect, very rarely do Turbo's come with Folding Carbon Buckets, what a machine
Can't wait till you try the launch
It’s funny that I thought of the idea just as one was for sale. Serendipity. Thanks all.
Congrats it will be a while before an aerokit with folding buckets turbo s turns up again in the classifieds. They really are very scarce. Enjoy in good health
Good choice, especially over a GT3, I went 991.1 turbo s to 991.2 turbo s to 991.2 GT3, GT 3 lasted 3 weeks, totally unusable on the road, wouldn’t see which way a turbo went….maybe not a popular opinion on here but I see the GT3 as the emperors new clothes.

not a popular opinion, but i agree.
It’s interesting but when I said something similar of my GT2 over the GT3 it was also an unpopular opinion. The disadvantage of the 991.2 turbo is I think 200kgs (although I guess with these lighter seats I might be saving 10% of that difference) but all that torque, as with the GT2, really does make a great road option. I just don’t want to have to go down 3 or 4 gears to get the same pick up at lower speeds.
Saying that, the GT3 is an incredible machine no question about it.
What you say about your real world experience making the GT3 intolerable against the turbo s is quite stark!

On traffic free, well surfaced, technical roads a GT3 is and always has been, more fun, visceral, tactile and engaging. But those occasions are few and far between, unless you make a point of seeking them out ...
But the rest of the time, any modern, watercooled, turbocharged 911 has the ability to effortlessly and efficiently dispatch large queues of cars dawdling along at 40mph in a 50 zone, 50 in a 60 zone and 60 on NSL sections of road (just as your old 996 GT2 could) and just as in the GT2, you can do so without all the "noise and thunder" that all too often accompanies such manoeuvres in a normally aspirated GT3, thereby reducing the irritation caused by to other road users who consider overtaking dangerous (if not illegal).
Win, win.

Any 991 Turbo S is point... and disappear! I didn't find there was much to learn apart from learning precisely when you need to start braking!

Gorgeous! We’ve only been back a couple of months from a three week tour through Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Monaco and France in our GT soft top — the 2008 SL63 AMG with the sublime 6.2V8
I really ought to stick working for a little longer before we weigh anchor again, but I think this 911 is due a factory visit with my son. He didn’t remember too much of it last time when we took the GT2. Might be a nice trip towards the end of the year. I see a reasonably priced set of wheels with winter tyres on eBay which I’m tempted to buy in readiness.

Suppose it’s like all Porsche gen 2’s of their models, 10% better than the previous gen ……in all areas, better noise, bit faster, handling a bit sharper………..
